Light reflecting layersthat totally reflect light are provided inside the subpixelsdisposed in particular regions on an inner face of a TFT array substrate, and light reflecting layersthat scatter light are provided inside the subpixelsother than those. Thanks to this, the reflectance of the light reflecting layerscan be rendered different from that of the light reflecting layers. As a result, differences can be created in the display light formed by the light reflecting layersand by the light reflecting layers, by means of the light that is reflected thereat. Thereby, fine adjustment of the display light brightness and contrast is enabled, so that a liquid crystal display devicewith extensive power of expression and superior display characteristics is provided.

A method of manufacturing a color filter substrate includes providing a base, forming a reflective film over the base, forming a plurality of banks on the reflective film between such that at least one of the banks has a transmissive portion and a non-transmissive portion, and forming a plurality of coloring elements by depositing prescribed fluid in a plurality of deposit portions that are defined by the banks such that the coloring elements have at least two different colors and are disposed so as to form a prescribed pattern.

Color filter substrate, manufacturing method thereof, displaying device, electro-optical device and electronic instrument

A color filter substrate includes a transmissive base; a reflective film that is formed on the base; a plurality of coloring elements having different colors that is formed on the reflective film; and a plurality of banks formed on the reflective film between the plurality of coloring elements. The bank has a transmissive portion and a non-transmissive portion. The coloring elements are formed by jetting out droplets onto deposit regions that are defined by the banks by an inkjet technique. The transmissive portion of the bank exposes the reflective film. A sufficient area is provided for each coloring element, while a sufficient area of the reflective film is exposed.
