Inositol compounds grouped into an aminocyclitol family are disclosed which have stereospecific structure and optical activity and find application to the manufacture of medicinal products and agricultural chemicals. The compound is produced with use of optically active L-quebrachitol as a starting material and by way of specific steps of reaction.

Optically active aminocyclitols

Optically active diols and hydroxycarboxylic acids and their esters are produced by deriving 1L-1,2:5,6-di-O-cyclohexylidene-chiro-inositol from 1L-chiro-inositol as an asymmetric source, followed by introduction of a selected class of sterically hindering and asymmetrically reactive groups into the first-mentioned compound and by subsequent reduction of the resulting compound. Seven specific inositols are also derivable from synthesis of those ultimate compounds.

A method of synthesizing D-myoinositol-1-phosphate from 1,2-(R.sup.1)-3-R.sup.2 -myoinositol compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a bridging type protective group bonded to two oxygen atoms at the 1- and 2-position, and R.sup.2 is a protective group coupled to the oxygen atom at the 3-position. D-Myoinositol-1-phosphate is useful as an intermediate for the production of inositol-1,4,5-triphosphate.

Disclosed is an adhesive composition which contains (1) a polymer selected from acrylonitrile/butadiene copolymers, carboxyl group-containing acrylonitrile/butadiene copolymers, acrylic rubbers, urethane rubbers, chloroprene rubbers, chlorosulfonated polyethylene, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers, ethylene/acrylic acid or its ester or metal salt copolymers, ethylene/methacrylic acid ester or metal salt copolymers, thermoplastic polyurethanes, saturated polyesters and polyamides, (2) an epoxy acrylate resin, (3) an acrylic or methacrylic monomer having at least two different functional groups and/or an acrylic or methacrylic monomer of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is H or CH.sub.3 and R.sub.2 is (C.sub.1 -C.sub.18) alkyl or an organic residue containing an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or a heterocyclic ring, (4) an organic peroxide and (5) an imidazole or an amino compound containing at least one tertiary amino group. The adhesive composition may further contain (6) a phosphorus-containing acrylate or methacrylate and/or a nitrogen-containing acrylate or methacrylate, and/or (7) an electroconductive material selected from carbon black having a surface area of 125 to 260 m.sup.2 /g and a DBP oil absorption of 100 to 200 cc/100 g, Ketjenblack, lamp black, acetylene black and graphite, and a cut carbon fiber and fine powders of aluminum, nickel, copper and zinc, having a size of not larger than 200 mesh. A structural adhesive is prepared by impregnating, spread-coating or laminating a strand mat, surface mat, cloth, nonwoven fabric or victoria lawn, composed of a glass fiber, a glass fiber/organic fiber composite, an organic fiber or a carbon fiber with the adhesive composition.

A cured puncture sealant for a tire which comprises (1) either a copolymer of at least one acrylate selected from 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and n-butyl acrylate, and a glycidyl monomer, or a copolymer of at least one of the above acrylates, a glycidyl monomer, and at least one other acrylic monomer, and (2) a curing agent for epoxy resin. The sealant may optionally further include a polymer whose solubility parameter to the above copolymer is in the range of .+-.0.5. The sealant is most effective as a puncture sealant for a tubeless tire.

Puncture sealant for a tire

An elastomer obtained by reacting at a specific ratio an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer formed by reacting at a specific ratio of polymer containing a diene polymer having a terminal hydroxyl group with a diisocyanate compound, with a curing agent having a terminal hydroxyl or amine group, is especially excellent as a tire filling material. A tire prepared by filling this elastomer is valuable as an elastic tire of a public vehicle.

Disclosed are a puncture sealant composition in emulsion for a tubeless pneumatic tire comprising a butyl rubber emulsion, a saturated hydrocarbon polymer emulsion, a crosslinking agent for the rubber and a crosslinking activator. A composition further containing a diene type unsaturated polymer emulsion and/or a natural rubber latex is also disclosed. These compositions are suitable for use in the production of a self-sealing vehicle tire.

Rubber compositions containing therein as a source of carbon disulfide at least one compound selected from the group consisting of cyclic bis (thiocarbamoyl) mono- or di-sulfides, cyclic bis (thioxanthogenyl) mono- or di-sulfides, and cyclic (thiocarbamoyl-thioxanthogenyl) mono- or di-sulfides and an amine-isocyanate addition compound as a vulcanization accelerator system having excellent scorching stability with rapid vulcanization at usual vulcanization temperatures.

Rubber compositions containing therein as a source of carbon disulfide a compound selected from the group consisting of cyclic bis (dithiocarbamic acid) metal salts and cyclic or non-cyclic dithiocarbamic-xanthogenic acid metal salts and an amine-isocyanate addition compound as a vulcanization accelerator system having excellent scorching stability with rapid vulcanization at usual vulcanization temperatures.

A process for the preparation of hydroxyl-terminated liquid polymers by polymerizing a conjugated diene monomer or a mixture thereof with a vinyl monomer using hydrogen peroxide as a radical initiator in the presence of a member selected from the halogen-containing compound of nickel, palladium, platinum and silver, and the nitrate and phosphate of silver.
