A serial recording system printer continuously records a plurality of pages on a continuous recording sheet repeatedly fed/stopped and conveyed with a constant conveyance step width. A cutter is disposed on a downstream side of a print head so that the position of the cutter can be changed in the conveyance direction. The cutter position is moved for each page in accordance with the dimension of the page, and the sheet is cut. It is assumed that a signal indicating a terminal or front end position of the page is a start point, and that a product (n&#x3b1;) of a conveyance step width (&#x3b1;) and the number of repetitions (n) is set as a conveyance distance of the recording sheet. The cutter is moved to be positioned so that a distance (A) to the cutter from a print end position of a page terminal end or a print start position of a page front end agrees with the conveyance distance (n&#x3b1;).

A printing device for printing on a supplied paper, said printing device being provided therein with ink ejecting elements for ejecting ink from ink flow paths having nozzles on its front end and formed in ink jet head, and with a controlling means for electrically controlling said ink ejecting elements, said printing device being characterized in that said controlling means is constructed such that electric controlling conditions with respect to said ink ejecting elements are varied according to types of ink used. By such a construction, it becomes possible to drive ejecting elements in an excellent driving conditions adapted to type of ink used, thereby to deliver ink onto paper in a stable manner for carrying out a good quality of printing.

A control method of an ink jet printer having plural ink jet heads which are mounted on a carriage that reciprocates in a direction substantially orthogonal to a conveying direction of a recording sheet, and are deviated in the reciprocating direction of the carriage. The ejection time width for recording one dot by ejecting ink from each ink jet head is divided into plural pitches, each pitch is associated with an address of a timing data memory, and data indicative of ejection timing of each ink jet head is stored in the corresponding address of the memory. The data indicative of the ejection timing is read from the memory in address order to independently control the ejection timing of each ink jet head. Even when the mounting position of the ink jet head is deviated within the range of each dot, adequate recording can be performed without any dot deviation by adjusting the ejection timing.

Control method of ink jet printer

There is disclosed an apparatus for restoring an ink jet recording head which can securely recover the ink jet recording head from the ink non-ejection condition caused by foreign particles or bubbles adhering inside the ink passage of an ejecting nozzle and which can prevent unnecessary bubbles from generating in the ink jet recording head. In the restoring operation, in which foreign particles are discharged together with ink from the ejecting nozzle by pressurizing the ink in an ink tank, an inner pressure of an ink supply passage is adjusted to reach a set pressure value.

A control method of an ink jet printer having an ink jet head which ejects an ink droplet to record a dot on a recording sheet. When plural colors of ink are overlapped to record a dot, each color ink ejection time length is set shorter as compared with when a single-color dot is recorded. Ink amount in the dot in which the plural colors are overlapped is reduced, and ink blur on the recording sheet is prevented from occurring, so that recorded image quality can be enhanced. Preferably, ejection time width of one dot of ink ejected from the ink jet head is divided into plural pitches, each pitch is associated with an address of a timing data memory, and timing data is prepared by storing data indicating plural ejection time lengths of the ink jet head in the address corresponding to an ejection timing. Selection information for selecting any one of the ejection time lengths is included in record data for each dot, the ejection timing for each dot is determined from the timing data based on the ejection time length selected by the selection information of the record data, and each dot ink ejection time length is controlled.

Ink jet printer and control method thereof

A cutter device for use in a printer in which a broad continuous printing sheet is printed and thereafter the printed portion of the sheet is cut along a width direction to be dropped downward to a tray. The cutter devise includes a cutter which reciprocating to cut the printed sheet in the width direction; and holding member for holding the sheet to prevent the sheet from dropping on a cutting start side of the cutter. The sheet is released from the holding member substantially in synchronism with the completion of the cutting by the cutter. Preferably, the sheet is fed a reverse in rewinding direction before the cutter finishes cutting to return to its original position, so that the cut end of a non-printed sheet is prevented from interfering with the returning cutter. The compactness of the cutter device is achieved and the sheet charging operations are facilitated.

There is provided an ink tank system for supplying ink to a print head of an ink jet printer from a replaceable ink tank by pressurizing inside of the ink tank with pressurized air. By disposing an air filter in an air supply channel of the ink tank, dust is prevented from entering the ink tank together with air, and the ink is prevented from adhering to the air filter, thereby keeping smooth ink force-feeding. At the time the ink tank is mounted, a seal releasing pin protruded on the side of a printer unit opens an auxiliary seal for sealing between the air filter in the air supply channel and an air chamber of the ink tank. After the ink tank is mounted, the pressurized air is passed through the air filter and fed into the ink tank. A replaceable ink tank used in the system is also provided.

An image recording method for recording an image on a thermal recording material by developing colors by heating one or more times the thermal recording material having thermal color developing transparent layers in the form of triple layers which respectively develop different hues, the thermal color developing transparent layers in the form of triple layers being formed on one side of a transparent carrier thereof. Therefore, a color developing layer in the form of a multiplicity of layers formed on either side of the transparent carrier can be simultaneously subjected to the heat treatment and the color deviation can thereby be prevented. Therefore, the working efficiency can be improved and energy required to complete the recording operation can be reduced.

An image recording apparatus for recording an image on a heat-sensitive recording material which has on both sides of a transparent support member a plurality of transparent heat-sensitive color developing layers that develop respective colors in different hues from each other. The image recording apparatus includes a reversing device for turning the heat-sensitive recording material upside down, after the transparent heat-sensitive color developing layer on one side has been heated to develop the color. Accordingly, color development for both sides of the heat-sensitive recording material can be automatically performed. An image recording method for recording an image by a recording head on a heat-sensitive recording material which has two sorts of dye layers on one side and one sort of dye layer on the other side. The image recording method comprises the steps of color-developing one of the said two sorts of dye layers on one side, irradiating light onto the color-developed dye layer to fix the developed color, turning the heat-sensitive recording material upside down, while irradiating the light onto the color-developed layer, and then color-developing the dye layer on the other side. Accordingly, a longer fixing time can be set to ensure the positive fixing.
