An endoscope apparatus having an end section provided with an image forming optical system, a self-scanning type solid state image pickup device at which cyan and yellow color filters are positioned alternately to correspond to respective picture elements of the image pickup device, and a light guide. When green light is emitted from the light guide to an object, image signals corresponding to the green component of the object are picked up from all picture elements. When white light is emitted, cyan component image signals are picked up from the picture elements where the cyan filters are positioned, and yellow component signals form those where the yellow filters are positioned. Alternatively, when green light is emitted, green component signals are picked up from all picture elements and, when magenta light is emitted, blue component signals are picked up from the picture elements where the cyan filters are positioned and red component signals are picked up from those where the yellow filters are positioned. The image signals are then electrically processed to form a color image.

Endoscope apparatus using solid state image pickup device

An endoscope apparatus having an end section provided with an image forming optical system, a self-scanning type solid state image pickup device at which cyan and yellow color filters are positioned alternately to correspond to respective picture elements of the image pickup device, and a light guide. When green light is emitted from the light guide to an object, image signals corresponding to the green component of the object are picked up from all picture elements. When white light is emitted, cyan component image signals are picked up from the picture elements where the cyan filters are positioned, and yellow component signals from those where the yellow filters are positioned. Alternatively, when green light is emitted, green component signals are picked up from all picture elements and, when magenta light is emitted, blue component signals are picked up from the picture elements where the cyan filters are positioned and red component signals are picked up from those where the yellow filters are positioned. The image signals are then electrically processed to form a color image.

An endoscope system includes a solid state imaging device having an array of photosensitive cells for producing a video signal associated with an image of an object formed on the array, a color filter having filter segments of cyan and yellow disposed alternately in two-dimensional in association with the array, an illuminating unit for illuminating an object alternately with a first ray including green and a second ray including at least magenta, and a display unit for visualizing the video signal as a color image of the object. This system further includes a control circuit for synchronizing the imaging device with the illuminating unit so as to cause the imaging device to produce a first video signal including green and associated with a first field of a displayed picture while the illuminating unit illuminates the object with the first ray, and to alternately produce second and third video signals including at least red and blue, respectively, and associated with a second field of the displayed picture while the illuminating unit illuminates the object with the second ray, and a video circuit operative in response to the control circuit for forming the first field including green pixels from the first video signal, and forming the second field including red and blue video pixels disposed alternately from the second and third video signals, to cause thereby the fields to be displayed alternately on the display unit.

Endoscope system using solid state imaging device

A telescopic optical system composed of an objective, an eyepiece and an erect prism located between the objective and the eyepiece is provided with a reticle located on the focal plane of the objective. The objective, the eyepiece and the reticle are fixed to a casing of the telescopic optical system. The erect prism is capable of having its incident light optical axis and its emanating light optical axis aligned with each other and is rotatably mounted on the casing by means of gimbals provided with a rotor. The gimbals have two axes of rotation intersecting at right angle with each other and are located so that the two axes of the rotation are included in a plane which is perpendicular to the main optical axis of the telescopic optical system and passes through the middle point of the distance from the objective to the reticle.

Image stabilized optical system

An image stabilized optical system in which a pair of telescopic optical systems are arranged in parallel with each other to constitute binoculars. The telescopic optical system is composed of an objective, an eyepiece and an erecting prism located between the objective and the eyepiece. The erect prism is capable of having its incident light optical axis and its emanating light optical axis aligned with each other. The objectives and the eyepieces of the pair of telescopic optical systems are fixed to a casing of the image stabilized optical system, and the erect prisms are mounted on gimbals having two axes of rotation intersecting at right angle with each other. The two axes of rotation of the gimbals are included in a plane perpendicular to the main optical axes of the telescopic optical systems. The plane passes through a middle point of the distance from the objective to the eyepiece.

An optical color-separation system for use in a color television camera having an image plane compensating lens associated with each of three camera tubes. Each compensating lens is provided with a diffusing area lying on the periphery thereof so as to be out of the image forming optical path. Photo-diodes are provided in opposing relation to the diffusing area. Light from the photo-diodes passes through the diffusion area to provide bias light for the camera tube.

Optical color-separation system for use in a color television camera

Means is provided for selectively inserting any one of one or more glass elements having parallel flat sides between the color separating prism and the objective of a television camera so as to adjust the glass length of the optical system to meet the requirements of the particular image pick-up tube concerned.

Color separating optical system for a television camera

In an optical instrument such as a camera or a telescope, a first optical component is mounted to a housing and an inertially stabilized second optical component for compensation is mounted on gimbals. The gimbals are provided with an electric motor which has a rotor in the form of an annular magnet rotatably supported with the axis of rotation aligned with the optical axis of the optical instrument. The rotor serves as an inertial member to inertially stabilize the second optical component for compensation.

Optical image stabilizing system

A diaphragm of a camera is controlled by a servomotor which is actuated with an output of an amplifier. A bridge circuit including a photodetector which receives light from the object to be photographed is connected with the amplifier so that the imbalance output of the bridge circuit may be amplified by the amplifier and transmitted to the servomotor to actuate the motor in accordance with the imbalance of the bridge circuit. The output of the photodetector is differentiated by a differentiation circuit connected between the photodetector and the amplifier so that the output of the amplifier may be controlled by the differentiated output which represents the rate of variation in the quantity of light received by the photodetector.

Automatic exposure control means

An exposure control circuit connected with an electrically operated exposure control element such as an electric shutter or an electrically controlled diaphragm includes a bridge circuit. The bridge circuit has four arms and is provided in one arm thereof with a photodetector to receive light from the object to be photographed. A resistor is connected in series with the photodetector to convert the current flowing through the photodetector into a voltage. A transistor is connected with the photodetector to amplify the photocurrent thereof. Another resistor is connected with the transistor to convert the current obtained by amplification of the photocurrent of the photodetector by use of the transistor to a voltage. These two resistors are provided in one arm of the bridge circuit so as to be independently varied of their resistance.
