A vehicle control system is applied to a vehicle equipped with a magnetic sensor configured to detect a magnetic marker on a road. The vehicle control system executes a self-driving control by which self-driving of the vehicle is controlled. The vehicle control system executes a retreat traveling control using the magnetic marker in response to the occurrence of an abnormality in at least part of components and functions necessary for the self-driving control. The magnetic marker provides guidance information by which the vehicle is guided to a safe area. In the retreat traveling control using the magnetic marker, the vehicle control system acquires the guidance information from the magnetic marker detected by the magnetic sensor and causes the vehicle to travel toward the safe area and stop at the safe area based on the guidance information thus acquired.

A vehicle includes an outside sensor configured to acquire information on an outside circumstance of the vehicle, a vehicle height adjusting device configured to adjust a vehicle height, and a control device configured to control the vehicle. The control device is configured to control the vehicle height adjusting device such that the vehicle height becomes a vehicle height corresponding to a platform condition at a predetermined stop position when the vehicle stops at the predetermined stop position. A vehicle control system includes an actuator and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to determine one of the following conditions is satisfied: (i) an adjacent vehicle has started; (ii) a first timing at which the preceding vehicle has started does not indicate a second timing at which a slipping-by vehicle has been lost; and (iii) a second preceding vehicle has started.
