The present invention relates to an atopic dermatitis suppressing fiber to which a compound containing a phosphate group is fixed by chemical bonding. The present invention further relates to an atopic dermatitis suppressing fiber assembly that includes the atopic dermatitis suppressing fiber arranged to contact skin. The present invention further relates to an atopic dermatitis suppressing fiber product that includes the atopic dermatitis suppressing fiber arranged to contact skin. Disclosed is a method for producing a modified animal fiber, the method includes step 1 () of pre-oxidizing a cystine bond (&#x2014;S&#x2014;S&#x2014; bond) present in an epidermal cell of an animal fiber to bring the cystine bond into a low oxidation state, step 2 () of oxidizing with ozone the pre-oxidized &#x2014;S&#x2014;S&#x2014; bond to bring the &#x2014;S&#x2014;S&#x2014; bond into at least one high oxidation state selected from di-, tri-, and tetra-oxidation states, and step 3 () of reductively cleaving the &#x2014;S&#x2014;S&#x2014; bond in a high oxidation state. The method imparts shrink resistance and pilling resistance to an animal fiber. In the step 2 () ozone is microdispersed in an aqueous solution comprising an anionic surfactant having a Calkyl group, and the animal fiber is contacted with the ozone. Accordingly, the present invention provides a method for efficiently producing in a short period of time an animal fiber having excellent shrink resistance that barely undergoes felting when washed in an aqueous system in shrink proofing an animal fiber using ozone.

Animal adhesive cells, particularly human vascular endothelial cells, are cultured in serum-free condition by coating at least one polymer having cell adhesive activity on an inner surface of a culture vessel or surface of a carrier for cell culture, and culturing the cells in the coated vessel or with the coated carrier using a serum-free medium for animal cell culture containing isolated serum albumin, and preferably also transferrin. The polymer is a synthetic polymer modified with a peptide having cell adhesive activity or a natural polymer having cell adhesive activity or a combination thereof. Preferably, the peptide is RGDV, RGDS, RGDN, DGEA or YIGSR and the natural polymer is collagen, gelatin, keratin, fibronectin, vitronectin or laminin. A preferred medium for culturing human vascular endothelial cells is basal medium MCDB 131 or MCDB 107 containing isolated serum albumin, transferrin, hydrocortisone and epithelial growth factor.
