A data processing device includes: a digital signal processor; at least one processor; and at least one memory device configured to store a plurality of instructions, which when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to operate to: output a first determination result relating to a scene of content through use of sound data; select processing for the sound data by a first selection method based on the first determination result; determine an attribute of the content from among a plurality of attribute candidates; and select the processing by a second selection method, which is different from the first selection method, based on a determination result of the attribute, wherein the digital signal processor is configured to execute the processing selected by the at least one processor on the sound data.

A sound processing apparatus includes a processing unit that is configured to acquire an audio signal, perform a correction processing on the acquired audio signal and output the correction-processed audio signal to a sound emitting unit. The correction processing includes an indirect sound adjusting processing in which a given signal processing is performed on an audio signal so as to adjust an influence of an indirect sound to be heard at a sound receiving point, and a frequency characteristic adjusting processing in which a frequency characteristic of an audio signal is adjusted. A microphone device includes: a housing having an opening section in an upper face thereof; and a non-directional microphone unit incorporated in the housing and provided inside the opening section. The upper face of the housing has a shape in which a distance from an edge defined as a boundary between the upper face and a side face or a bottom face to the opening section throughout a whole circumference of the upper face changes in &#xbd; or more of the whole circumference of the edge and an average value of the distance from the edge to the opening section is shorter than &#xbd; of a wavelength of a sound wave in a frequency range in which an auditory sensitivity of humans is low.

Microphone device

An audio device (e.g. an AV amplifier), with a plurality of audio output terminals according to the HDMI standard, converts audio data of a source device into audio signals suited to audio reproduction abilities (e.g. channel counts) of sink devices. The audio device stores a plurality of audio reproduction ability information describing the predetermined channel count thereof and the channel counts of sink devices, wherein arbitrary audio reproduction ability information precluding audio reproduction ability information of a sink device with the smallest channel count is provided to a source device. The audio device performs down-mixing on audio signals with respect to a sink device whose channel count is smaller than the predetermined channel count, while the audio device performs signal processing on audio signals with respect to a sink device whose channel count is larger than the predetermined channel count.

A method of setting a parameter for an audio apparatus including a delay processing unit which applies a delaying process and an amplifying process on an input audio signal in accordance with the set parameter, includes: performing a measuring process including: causing an outputting device to output measurement sound; and measuring a first impulse response at a sound receiving point; performing a specifying process including: analyzing the measured first impulse response; calculating a second impulse response at the sound receiving point when the outputting device outputs sound in case where a parameter is set in the audio apparatus and an audio signal indicative of the measurement sound is input to the audio apparatus; and specifying a parameter in accordance with the calculated second impulse response; and performing a setting process of setting the specified parameter in the delay processing unit.

Parameter setting method and audio apparatus

Under the control of a controller, a DSP supplies audio signals received from a switch circuit to a main zone DAC, subjects the audio signals received from the aforementioned switch circuit (i.e., audio signals for main zone use) to down-mixing processing so that the number of channels matches the number of output terminals assigned to each zone, and respectively supplies the audio signals subjected to down-mixing processing to the respective switch circuits of each zone. Each of the aforementioned switch circuits supplies the audio signals received from the subzone DAC to the respective volume adjustor of each zone.

A surround sound outputting device includes a receiving portion which receives signals on a plurality of channels, a storing portion which stores measuring sound data representing a sound, an outputting portion which outputs a sound produced based on the signals on the plurality of channels or the measuring sound data in a controlled direction and in a beam shape, a controlling portion which controls a direction of the sound output from the outputting portion, a sound collecting portion which picks up the sound output from the outputting portion to produce picked-up sound data representing the picked-up sound, an impulse response specifying portion which specifies impulse responses in respective directions from respective sound data, a path characteristic specifying portion which specifies path distances of the paths through which the sounds output in the respective directions arrive at the sound collecting portion from the outputting portion and levels of the impulse responses based on the impulse responses in the respective directions, and an allocating portion which specifies directions satisfying a predetermined relationship between the path distances of the paths in the respective directions and the levels of the impulse responses with respect to the plurality of channels respectively, and allocates the signals on the plurality of channels to the specified directions. The controlling portion controls the outputting portion so that respective sounds based on the signals on the plurality of channels are output in the directions specified by the allocating portion.
