An element assembly has a structure in which insulator layers including first and second insulator layers are laminated in an up-down direction. The first insulator layer is above the second insulator layer. A radiant conductor layer is on an upper surface of the first insulator layer. A first capacitance defining portion includes a first interlayer connection conductor passing through one or more of the insulator layers in the up-down direction. The first interlayer connection conductor is electrically connected to the radiant conductor layer. The radiant conductor layer, a ground conductor, and the first capacitance defining portion define and function as a patch antenna. When the first interlayer connection conductor is electrically connected to the radiant conductor layer, a distance from a lower end of the first interlayer connection conductor to the ground conductor in the up-down direction is shorter than a distance from the radiant conductor layer to the ground conductor in the up-down direction.

An antenna apparatus includes a conductive radiating element, a conductive member, and a first impedance circuit. The first impedance circuit includes a first parallel resonant circuit (an LC parallel resonant circuit) and is directly connected between the radiating element and the conductive member (the conductor plate). Since the first parallel resonant circuit has high impedance in its resonant frequency band and is equivalently in an open state, one end of the radiating element is opened in the resonant frequency band. In a wireless communication device, radiation conductors including a first and second end portions are reformed on an upper surface of a radiation conductor base material. First and second terminal electrodes are provided at a same or substantially the same interval as the first and second end portions, on a lower surface of a RFIC element. A seal includes an adhesive surface larger than a principal surface of the RFIC element. The RFIC element is arranged on the upper surface of the radiation conductor substrate so that each of the first and second terminal electrodes comes into contact with the first and second end portions. In a wireless IC device, a columnar body includes a metal body with an insulating film. A loop-shaped antenna conductor is provided on an upper surface of the columnar body via an insulating pedestal. The loop surface of the antenna conductor is parallel or substantially parallel to the upper surface of the columnar body. On the lower surface of a RFIC element, two terminal electrodes are provided. The RFIC element is mounted on the antenna conductor such that the two terminal electrodes are connected to both ends of the antenna conductor, respectively. One end of the connecting conductor is connected to the vicinity of one end of the antenna conductor, and the other end of the connecting conductor is connected to the upper surface of the columnar body.
