A threaded joint for steel tubes has a contact surface () including a threaded portion and a non-threaded metal-to-metal contact portion. The contact surface of at least one of a pin and a box of the joint is coated with a first plating layer () made of a Cu&#x2014;Zn alloy or a Cu&#x2014;Zn-M1 alloy (wherein M1 is at least one element selected from Sn, Bi, and In). An undercoat () of one or both of a Ni plating layer () and a Cu plating layer () and an overcoat of a Sn-M2 alloy plating layer () (wherein M2 is one or more elements selected from Bi, In, Ni, Zn, and Cu) may be formed below and above the first layer, respectively. A solid lubricating coating () and a viscous liquid or semisolid lubricating coating () may also be formed atop the plating layer as a lubricating coating ().

An electrodeposition drum for producing porous metal foil by an electrolytic deposition method including a drum having a surface onto which metal foil is deposited, a plurality of holes formed in the surface and an insulating resin filled in the holes, wherein the ratio of depth L and diameter D (L/D) of the hole is at least 1 and no clearance, into which deposited metal otherwise cuts in a wedge shape, exists at the boundary between the insulating resin filled in the hole and an opening edge of the hole.

Porous nickel foil for negative electrode of alkaline battery, production method therefor and production device therefor

A preparing method for a substrate for a stamper where the entirety of the metal rolled plate can be used as the material for the substrate so that a high yield in the preparation can be maintained is provided. A metal is rolled so as to generate a metal rolled plate, the metal rolled plate that is generated is cut to a predetermined size, and metal plating is operated on the front surface or the rear surface, or both the front and rear surfaces, of the metal rolled plate that has been cut to a predetermined size, and then, a polishing process is operated. A target plate thickness that is set when the metal rolled plate is rolled is smaller than the plate thickness that is required at the time of completion of the polishing process.

Substrate for a stamper

A hot press-formed article having improved corrosion resistance and coating adhesion when coated is obtained by hot press forming of a zinc-based plated steel material. It has a zinc-based plating layer comprising an iron-zinc solid solution phase and atop it a zinc oxide layer. The average thickness of the zinc oxide layer which is the outermost layer is at most 2 &#x3bc;m. A hot press-formed article having a good appearance and excellent corrosion resistance, coating adhesion, post-coating corrosion resistance, and weldability has a layer () consisting essentially of an iron-zinc solid solution phase atop a base material steel sheet (). It also has a zinc oxide layer () with an average thickness of at most 5 &#x3bc;m as an uppermost layer, but it does not have a substantial amount of an iron-zinc intermetallic compound phase. The total amount of Al contained in the iron-zinc solid solution layer () and the zinc oxide layer () is at most 0.5 g/m, and/or the total amount of Al oxides contained in these layers is at most 5 mg/m.

Hot press-formed article

A metal foil for a current collector of a secondary battery formed by electrodeposition and has a thickness (T) of 8 to 40 &#x3bc;m, the metal foil satisfying the following formulae:4.9&#xd7;10&#x2266;31&#xd7;104.5&#x2266;&#x3b5;&#x2212;(0.0005&#xd7;)&#x2266;15where S is a breaking strength (MPa), &#x3b5; is a tensile elongation (%) and Y is a Young's modulus (MPa). This foil is preferably a nickel foil and is manufactured by softening or annealing the metal foil obtained by electrodeposition. Thereby, a metal foil for a negative electrode of a secondary battery is obtained with an excellent capability of supporting the active material and large electric conductivity.

Metal foil for current collector of secondary battery and method of producing the same

Clad pipe having an inner pipe and an outer pipe metallurgically bonded to each other is manufactured by a process comprising the steps of: (a) preparing an inner pipe and an outer pipe made of different metallic materials, the outer pipe having an inner diameter larger than the outer diameter of the inner pipe; (b) forming an Ni-B layer by electroplating or electroless plating on the surface of one of the pipes facing the other pipe when the two pipes are assembled, the Ni-B layer having a thickness of 2-100 .mu.m and consisting essentially, on a weight basis, of B: 0.5%-7%, Fe: 0%-30%, P: 0%-7%, and a balance of Ni and inevitable impurities; (c) assembling the two pipes by inserting the inner pipe into the outer pipe; (d) subjecting the assembled pipes to cold working for reduction in diameter to such a degree that the outer diameter of the inner pipe is reduced by from 0.5% to 10% to form raw clad pipe in which the inner and outer pipes are in contact; and (e) subjecting the raw clad pipe to heat treatment in the temperature range of 1050.degree.-1250.degree. C. for a time sufficient to metallurgically bond the inner and outer pipes by diffusion bonding.

Process for manufacturing clad pipe

A material for producing far-infrared radiation is disclosed. The material comprises a substrate and an Al--Mn alloy-derived oxide surface layer on the substrate, the oxide surface layer being porous with an average pore diameter of 0.01-2.0 micrometers and a porosity of 10.sup.3 -10.sup.12 pores/cm.sup.2, the weight ratio of Mn/Al of the oxide surface layer being 0.001-2.0, and the thickness of the oxide surface layer being 0.1-100 micrometers.

Oil well pipe joint and manufacturing method therefor

An oil well pipe joint comprising a metal-to-metal sealing portion without thread is disclosed. A metal-plated or resin-coated layer exhibiting improved resistance to galling is provided on the outer peripheral surface of a thread-free lip portion which constitutes part of the metal-to-metal sealing portion on an externally-threaded member. At the metal sealing portion, satisfactory sealing properties are maintained under severe corrosive conditions, enabling the joint to be connected and disconnected over 10 times, and usually over 25 times.

Oil well pipe joint

A joint for used in connecting oil well casing and/or tubing and method of producing same are disclosed. The joint with improved metal-to-metal sealing properties as well as improved resistance to galling is made of an alloy steel containing 10% or more by weight of Cr and comprises a metal sealing portion and a threaded portion provided with an activating layer of a metal or an alloy selected iron, nickel, zinc, cobalt, copper, manganese, chromium and alloys thereof, and an electrodeposited layer of a metal or an alloy selected from iron, copper, zinc, chromium, nickel, and alloys thereof.

Oil well casing and tubing joint and production of same

A process for producing one-side electroplated steel sheet with the non-electroplating side having a high affinity for chemical conversion treatment is disclosed. The process comprises preparing a one-side electroplated steel sheet by applying a cathodic current thereto in an acidic plating bath simultaneously while slightly electroplating the non-electroplating surface thereof with a coating weight of 0.5 to 5 g/m.sup.2 by applying a cathodic current through said non-electroplating surface, and then applying electrolysis to said non-electroplating surface by passing an anodic current through said non-electroplating surface to thoroughly remove said electrodeposition on said non-electroplating surface.
