A memory readout system comprised of a vehicle control device and a readout device to be detachably connected to the vehicle control device. The readout device reads out dialogue information stored in a built-in nonvolatile memory in the vehicle control device when connected to the vehicle control device and a predetermined certification condition is satisfied. The vehicle control device is comprised of the built-in nonvolatile memory and a dialogue information readout unit. In particular, the nonvolatile memory has a un-rewritable area which allows a dialogue information writing, but inhibits a dialogue information deletion. The dialogue information readout unit reads out the dialogue information stored in the un-rewritable area when a password certification judges that the readout device is an authorized one, and then transfers the dialogue information to the readout device.

Memory readout system for vehicle control device

A vehicle control system has a battery mounted to a vehicle, a vehicle alternator charging the battery, a battery current detection device detecting a charging/discharging current of the battery, a voltage regulation device regulating an output voltage of the vehicle alternator to a specified output voltage, and a temperature sensor mounted to the inside of the battery current detection device. One terminal of a shunt resistance is connected to a negative terminal of the battery through a battery clump, and the other terminal of the shunt resistance is grounded. The temperature sensor is placed close to the shunt resistance. This structure enables the temperature sensor to detect the temperature of the battery with a high accuracy while considering the temperature characteristics of the shunt resistance.

Vehicle control system for controlling charging and discharging control of a battery

In a charge control device installable in a motor vehicle and designed to execute charge control for a battery based on an output power of a power generator, a nonvolatile memory stores therein data required to execute the charge control for the battery. A communication circuit is communicably connectable to first and second devices different from each other. The first device allows entrance of information required to rewrite the data stored in the nonvolatile memory. A rewriting unit rewrites the data stored in the nonvolatile memory based on the entered information only when the first device is communicably connected to the communication circuit.

A vehicle control system has a battery, a vehicle alternator for charging the battery, a vehicle-alternator control device capable of controlling the vehicle alternator, and a battery current detection device. The battery current detection device has a battery current detecting means capable of detecting a charging/discharging current of the battery, a battery voltage detection means capable of detecting a voltage of the battery, a battery temperature detection means capable of detecting a temperature of the battery, a microcomputer, and a communication controller. The communication controller performs digital data communication to transfer digital control signals between the vehicle alternator and the battery current detection device. The vehicle alternator has a display unit to display the occurrence of abnormal information of those detection means transferred from the battery current detection device, the occurrence of a battery failure, and a disconnecting of a charging wire of the battery by using different display patterns.

Vehicle control system capable of controlling electric-power generation state of vehicle alternator

It is an object to provide an electric heated catalyst failure diagnostic device that is compact, lightweight, inexpensive, and can accurately detect a disconnection of the heater and an abnormality in a circuit from the power supply to the heater with a simple configuration. When an ECU orders to apply the current to a heater drive circuit, a heater failure diagnostic device applies the current to the heater and the heater drive circuit. If energizing via a diode, the heater failure diagnostic device determines the circuit is abnormal. If not so, the circuit is normal. Meanwhile, when the ECU orders not to apply the current to the heater drive circuit, the heater failure diagnostic device turns on electricity to the heater and the heater drive circuit. If energizing via the diode, the heater failure diagnostic device determines the heater is not disconnected, and if not so, the heater is disconnected.

Electric heated catalyst failure diagnostic device

Disclosed is a battery power supply comprising battery modules each having a plurality of cells electrically and mechanically connected together in a line; a battery case for holding the battery modules; end plates, respectively provided at both end portions of the battery case, for electrically connecting positive and negative terminals provided at both ends of each of the battery modules, the positive and negative terminals having same or similar shapes, but different sizes; and terminal receiving portions which are provided at the end plates and in which the positive and negative terminals at the both ends of each of the battery modules are fitted. This structure can facilitate attaching of the battery modules to the battery case without misattachment of both terminals of each battery module, thus resulting in a reduced number of assembling steps.

Battery power supply with facile alignment of battery module terminals

Disclosed is a battery charger for an electric vehicle, which prevents capacitors in a circuit section from being deteriorated even when the circuit section is not used over a long period of time and can therefore charge reliably a main battery supplying power to an engine. The battery charger comprises a circuit section having capacitors for rectifying and boosting an AC input voltage; a converter section for converting a DC input voltage to an AC output voltage, boosting the AC voltage to a predetermined voltage level, and applying the AC voltage of a predetermined voltage level to the capacitors of the circuit section; and a switch section placed between a high voltage battery and the circuit section for disconnecting the high voltage battery from the circuit section when the high voltage battery is not charged, and connecting the high voltage battery to the circuit section when the high voltage battery is charged.

Battery charger for electric vehicle

A diagnosis system has a main circuit for executing diagnosis by data communication with an electronic control unit installed in a vehicle using data read out of the control unit. The system has an interface circuit that converts input and output signal levels on the main circuit sent from and to the control unit into signal levels that match signal levels in the control unit. The interface circuit has a comparator and a transistor. A signal sent from the control unit and pulled up with a supply voltage supplied to the control unit is applied to the comparator at its inverting input terminal. A reference signal based on the supply voltage is also applied to the comparator at its non-inverting input terminal. An output signal of the comparator is applied to the main circuit. The transistor is supplied with the supplied voltage via a resistor at its collector. The transistor receives at its base an output signal of the main circuit. A signal appearing at the collector is applied to the control unit. The system also has a switch provided on the main circuit. A supply voltage supplied to the interface circuit is switched between the supply voltage supplied to the control unit and a supply voltage supplied to the main circuit.

Diagnosis system applicable to several types of electronic control units

A wireless communication unit is built in a portable type diagnosing apparatus and an external computer respectively. The portable type diagnosing apparatus reads data from an electronic control unit of a vehicle and sends the data to the external computer by wireless. The external computer conducts miscellaneous calculations based on the data and displays the result of the calculations on a display of the external computer or analyzes failures of the vehicle in a running state. Further, when service manuals are needed, according to a command from the portable type diagnosing apparatus, they are sent from the external computer and displayed on a display of the portable type diagnosing apparatus.

Diagnosis system for motor vehicles and the method thereof

A diagnosis system conducts diagnosis with data read out of an electronic control unit with a communications protocol installed in a vehicle. The system has an integrated circuit to be an communications interface suitable for the protocol. The circuit can be made suitable for any communications protocol by reprogramming logical functions of the circuit with design information. Instead of such circuit, the system may have a main processor and a subprocessor. On one hand, the main processor conducts virtual data communication with the control unit for diagnosis. On the other hand, the subprocessor executes a communications processing program suitable for the protocol to have data communication with the control unit. The subprocessor receives data from the main processor and transfers the data to the control unit and vice versa for the virtual data communication.

Diagnosis system for motor vehicle

There is disclosed an ignition timing control system for an engine, capable of adjustably setting a timing for shifting from a fixed ignition timing after complete firing to an ordinary ignition timing. The control system comprises an ignition timing setting unit for setting an ignition timing from an ignition timing map using an engine load and the engine speed, a complete firing judgment unit for judging a complete combustion from conditions of the engine, and a delay setting element for setting a delay time for switching the fixed ignition timing to predetermined ignition timing at the time of starting in dependency on the engine temperature when the complete firing is judged.

A diagnostic system for diagnosing an electronic control system of a vehicle has a diagnostic device having a memory storing diagnosis programs for diagnosing the electronic control system. The electronic control system has another memory storing programs for diagnosing itself. The diagnostic device and the electronic control system are selectively designated as a master and slave. The electronic control system is diagnosed in accordance with the program in the device designated as the master.

Diagnostic system for a motor vehicle

There is disclosed a diagnosis system for a motor vehicle, and comprising a plurality of and various electronic control units mounted on the vehicle, and a diagnosis unit connected to the control units and for diagnosing troubles occurring in the several control units. The system further comprises a plurality of communication circuits provided in the diagnosis unit corresponding to every communication systems of the control units, a communication bus provided to connect the control units in parallel to the diagnosis unit, and one external connector for connecting the bus to the diagnosis unit. Accordingly, it is possible for the system to respond to every trouble of the control unit despite different communication systems, without changing connectors, and providing a plurality of communication buses.

A diagnostic system for diagnosing an electronic control system of a vehicle wherein the electronic control system has a first memory for storing data. The diagnostic system has a diagnostic device having a second memory storing diagnosis programs for diagnosing the electronic control system. A third memory provided in the electronic control system stores specific information necessary for diagnosing the electronic control system. The diagnostic device obtains the specific information from the electronic control system and diagnoses the electronic control system in accordance with the diagnosis programs based on the specific information.
