In a vehicle drive device, a second power source is connected to a first rotating element of a differential mechanism. The other output shaft of a first output shaft and a second output shaft is connected to a third rotating element so as to be disconnectable and connectable by a disconnection-connection mechanism. A control device places the disconnection-connection mechanism in a disconnected state. When a second traveling mode in which the third rotating element is fixed to a fixing member through engagement of a first engaging element is switched to a first traveling mode in which the disconnection-connection mechanism is placed in a connected state, the control device disengages the first engaging element, executes synchronous control in which rotational speeds of the other output shaft and the third rotating element are synchronized by a second engaging element, and switches the disconnection-connection mechanism from the disconnected state to the connected state.

A vehicle driving apparatus includes: an engine; a first rotary electric machine; first and second output shafts; a power distribution device for distributing a power between the first and second output shafts; and a control device for controlling an electric-power generation torque of a second rotary electric machine such that a power distribution ratio between the first and second output shafts becomes a target distribution ratio, and controlling a total torque of the engine and the first rotary electric machine such that a requested drive torque is obtained. The control device executes an electric-power consuming control to supply at least a part of a generated electric power generated by the second rotary electric machine, to the first rotary electric machine without via a power storage device, and to drive the first rotary electric machine, such that an operation state of the engine is brought close to a fuel-economy optimum state.

A drive control system for a hybrid vehicle configured to prevent backward coasting on an uphill grade even when an engine torque cannot be delivered to drive wheels. When the hybrid vehicle is propelled by delivering engine torque to rear wheels on an uphill grade, the drive control system determines an occurrence of a failure in which the torque cannot be delivered from the engine to the rear wheels. If the occurrence of the failure is determined, the drive control system executes a hill hold control to deliver torque to establish a required drive force from a motor to front wheels while disengaging an engagement device.

A control device for an internal combustion engine executes an automatic stop control and automatic start-up control for an intermittent operation of the internal combustion engine. In the automatic start-up control, the control device is configured to commence a restart by starting fuel injection from a fuel-injection-start cylinder. In the automatic stop control, the control device is configured to: execute an air-fuel-ratio rich processing that controls an air-fuel ratio such that the air-fuel ratio becomes richer than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio before a start of the fuel cut; execute a throttle closing processing that closes a throttle valve in synchronization with the fuel cut; and execute a throttle opening processing approaches the atmospheric air pressure before a cylinder destined to be the fuel-injection-start cylinder later completes the last intake stroke in the course of the engine stop after execution of the throttle closing processing.
