The processing includes, obtaining specific information about a document file or an image processing apparatus; determining whether to conduct or skip an analysis of a file structure of the document file, on a basis of the specific information; and conducting or skipping the analysis in accordance with a result of the determining. The processing further includes, converting the document file into variable print data in response to receiving a result of the analysis; on conducting the analysis, outputting the variable print data to the image processing apparatus; and on skipping the analysis, outputting the document file to the image processing apparatus.

A print system including a first printing apparatus subjected to color setting using a color sample, a second printing apparatus not subjected to color setting using a color sample, and a server computer generating a printing setting. The apparatus includes: an adding portion that adds a second object to each of the pages; an extraction portion that extracts, from the pages, a possible improper page that is a page to which the second object is probably not added properly, the possible improper page being extracted for each cause due to which the second object is not added properly; a quantity display portion that displays, for each cause, a quantity of the possible improper page thus extracted; an excluding portion that excludes, from the possible improper page, a selected page that is a page corresponding to the cause selected by a user; and an informing portion that informs the user of a to-be-confirmed page corresponding to the possible improper page remaining after excluding the selected page.

An image forming apparatus for printing an original image indicated based on image data is provided. The image forming apparatus includes a paper feed portion that conveys, to a print position, paper having a size in a feed direction larger than a size of the original image, a region selection portion that selects, as an additional image, a band-shaped region that has a predetermined width and extends inwardly from an edge of the original image in a direction corresponding to the feed direction of the paper, and an image correction portion that adds the additional image repeatedly in such a manner that the additional image is placed adjacent to each other outwardly from the edge of the original image. A corrected image obtained by adding the additional image with the image correction portion is printed onto the paper.

Image forming apparatus, and method for producing printed matter

A control apparatus obtains information identifying sheets stored in an MFP to be caused to perform printing for printing a printed object to be subjected to jacketed book binding, wherein this information is stored in the MFP. The control apparatus stores thicknesses of respective paper sheets as information about paper sheets. From this information and from the information obtained from the MFP, the control apparatus creates a table indicative of the correspondence between the respective paper sheets stored in the MFP and their thicknesses. Further, on receiving a selection of paper sheets to be used for printing for the printed object and a number of these paper sheets, the control apparatus determines a thickness of each paper sheet by making a reference to the table and calculates the spine jacket width by multiplying the thickness by the number of paper sheets.
