An in-vehicle internal combustion engine includes a cylinder block and a cylinder head. The cylinder head includes a plurality of communication passages connected to the oil chamber. The cylinder block includes an oil passage for returning oil accumulated in the oil chamber into the oil pan. The communication passages include a first communication passage having a first opening opened in the upper surface of the cylinder head and a second communication passage having a second opening opened in the upper surface of the cylinder head. The first opening is located below the second opening. An extending wall extending in a direction intersecting the cylinder arrangement direction is provided between the first opening and the second opening on the upper surface of the cylinder head.

In-vehicle internal combustion engine

A cylinder head comprises a cylinder head body. The cylinder head body has two intake ports placed on a first side of the cylinder head body with respect to the plug hole, and the two exhaust ports placed on a second side of the cylinder head body with respect to the plug hole. A water jacket of the cylinder head includes: an intake-port-to-intake-port passage portion communicating with the outside of the cylinder head and extending between the two intake ports; an exhaust-port-to-exhaust-port passage portion communicating with the outside of the cylinder head and extending between the two exhaust ports; and a central passage portion communicating with the intake-port-to-intake-port passage portion and the exhaust-port-to-exhaust-port passage portion, the central passage portion being formed so as to surround the plug hole.

Cylinder head

An internal combustion engine includes cylinders, a cylinder head that includes a pair of intake ports and a pair of exhaust ports for each of the cylinders, and a cylinder block that includes a block-side coolant passage. One of the pair of intake ports and the pair of exhaust ports is a pair of specified ports. The cylinder head includes an inter-port coolant passage between the specified ports. The inter-port coolant passage is connected to the block-side coolant passage through a communication portion. A flow direction is a direction in which the coolant flows in a portion of the block-side coolant passage that is connected to the communication portion. A center of a passage cross section of the communication portion is shifted to a downstream side in the flow direction with respect to a center of a passage cross section of the inter-port coolant passage.

Internal combustion engine

A cylinder head includes a pair of intake ports and a pair of exhaust ports disposed to face each other and disposed to surround a fuel injection valve, a first coolant path through which coolant flows from a position between the intake ports toward the fuel injection valve, a second coolant path through which coolant flows from a position between the exhaust ports toward the fuel injection valve, and a junction. The junction includes a facing wall that extends from a top surface of the junction toward the combustion chamber disposed on a lower side of the top surface and that faces a flow of coolant in at least one of the first and second coolant paths.

Cylinder head of engine

In an engine (internal combustion engine), a crankcase is provided with a fastening area that surrounds the opening and contacts the oil pan, a balance shaft housing is disposed in the crankcase to surround the opening, and four housing side fastening sections are provided to the crankcase to fasten the crankcase and the balance shaft housing. The fastening section of the four housing side fastening sections in a first axial direction side of a balance shaft is disposed on the inside of the fastening area, and the fastening section of the four housing side fastening sections in a second axial direction side of the balance shaft is disposed on the outside of the fastening area.

In a multicylinder internal combustion engine including a turbocharger, the turbocharger employs a twin-entry turbo where a turbine includes two exhaust gas inflow ports. A first exhaust passage guides an exhaust gas discharged from a first cylinder group of the internal combustion engine to one exhaust gas inflow port of the turbocharger. A second exhaust passage guides an exhaust gas discharged from a second cylinder group of the internal combustion engine to the other exhaust gas inflow port of the turbocharger. An exhaust gas collecting portion of the first exhaust passage and an exhaust gas collecting portion of the second exhaust passage each include an air-fuel ratio sensor. This configuration allows efficiently contact of the exhaust gas on an element portion of the air-fuel ratio sensor, thus accurately detecting an air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas at an upstream side of a catalyst for each cylinder.
