Provided is a lighting device capable of manipulating a wider range of parameters to reproduce various light sources. A light source unitincludes, for example, a liquid crystal panel and a backlight, and each pixel is a light source capable of adjusting innumerable hues and intensities capable of adjusting hue and intensity. A lenticular lensincludes an array of a plurality of lenticules, and is arranged such that a plurality of light sources capable of adjusting hue and intensity is associated with each lenticule. In addition, on the outer periphery of the cylindrical portion of each lenticule, a partition is formed to block emission light from the pixel below the adjacent lenticule, thereby preventing repetition.

The present technology relates to a light-shielding device and a light-shielding method which make an object that is meant to be invisible to human beings enter a state in which the object is hidden so as to be invisible to eyes, or make an object that is meant to be visible enter a state in which the object is visible to eyes in correspondence with biological information. A light-shielding wall, which partitions two spaces and includes a plurality of panels capable of being controlled to a transmitting state in which light is transmitted or a light-shielding state in which light is shielded, is used as a window, an orientation of a face of a user who is sleeping is detected as biological information, and the light-shielding wall is controlled so that the user is capable of visually recognizing light when it reaches an alarm setting time.

Provided is a material-fixing substrate that does not have to use copper as a catalyst because the substrate-bonding site includes a cyclic alkyne to form a covalent bond with a surface of the substrate, and therefore that can reduce damage to a cell, for example, in a case where a to-be-fixed material is the cell. The material-fixing substrate has a to-be-fixed material fixed thereon via a material-fixing agent. Liquid crystal display device

A liquid-crystal display apparatus includes a plurality of rectangular pixels. Each pixel includes a first electrode and a second electrode. A slit region and a concave and convex portion are formed in the first electrode. It further includes a control circuit. The plurality of pixels are constituted of a first pixel group and a second pixel group. First data lines and for applying a voltage on the first electrode are provided closer to the first substrate than the first electrode. In each pixel that constitutes the first pixel group, a second data line extension extending from a second data line is provided adjacent to a first data line. In each pixel that constitutes the second pixel group, a first data line extension extending from the first data line is provided adjacent to the second data line.

Liquid-crystal display apparatus and method of giving a pretilt to liquid-crystal molecules

An unevenness inspection apparatus includes circuitry that is configured to obtain a pickup image of a test object and modify a chroma value of a pixel in the pickup image to correct a gain of the pickup image associated with the pixel for generating a color unevenness inspection image. The circuitry is configured to generate a luminance unevenness inspection image based on the pickup image and calculate an evaluation parameter using both of the color unevenness inspection image and the luminance unevenness inspection image. The circuitry is configured to perform unevenness inspection using the calculated evaluation parameter, which is calculated based on unevenness visibility for both color and luminance.

Unevenness inspection apparatus and unevenness inspection method

An unevenness inspection apparatus including: an image pickup section obtaining a pickup image of a test object; an image generating section generating each of a color unevenness inspection image and a luminance unevenness inspection image based on the pickup image; a calculating section calculating an evaluation parameter using both of the color unevenness inspection image and the luminance unevenness inspection image; and an inspecting section performing unevenness inspection using the calculated evaluation parameter. The calculating section calculates the evaluation parameter in consideration of unevenness visibility for both color and luminance.

A color-unevenness inspection apparatus includes: an image pickup section picking up an image of an inspection target in a color-unevenness inspection; and an image generation section generating an uneven-color image by, in the picked-up image of the inspection target obtained by the image pickup section, calculating a chroma in each unit region and identifying an uneven-color region based on a magnitude of the calculated chroma. The color-unevenness inspection apparatus further includes: a calculation section calculating, for the uneven-color region in the uneven-color image, an evaluation parameter to be used in the color-unevenness inspection; and an inspection section performing the color-unevenness inspection based on the calculated evaluation parameter. The image generation section calculates the chroma, in each unit region of the picked-up image, while performing correction processing that reflects variations in color-unevenness visibility from color to color.

Color-unevenness inspection apparatus and method

A color-unevenness inspection apparatus includes: an image pickup section picking up an image of an inspection target for a color-unevenness inspection; an image generation section generating an uneven-color image by determining one or more uneven-color regions existing in the picked-up image of the inspection target obtained by the image pickup section, and by classifying unit regions included in each of the uneven-color regions into a plurality of color groups; a calculation section calculating, on the uneven-color regions in the uneven-color image, an evaluation parameter to be used in the color-unevenness inspection; a correction section making a correction to the calculated evaluation parameter in consideration of a difference of color-unevenness visibility between the color groups; and an inspection section performing the color-unevenness inspection, based on a resultant evaluation parameter obtained by the correction.

A method for driving a flat-type display device which includes a cathode panel having first electrodes and second electrodes and an anode panel, the cathode panel and the anode panel having spacers is provided. The method includes the steps of: in the non-display operation period of the flat-type display device, determining a normalized first current from a first current by non-display-driving the electron emitter areas near the spacers, and determining a normalized second current from a second current by non-display-driving the electron emitter areas which are not near the spacers; and in the actual display operation period of the flat-type display device, setting the driving conditions for the electron emitter areas on the basis of the normalized first current and normalized second current so that the electron emission conditions in the electron emitter areas near the spacers and not near the spacers are substantially the same.
