A method for electrochemical oxidation decomposition of difficult to decompose compounds such as aromatic compounds, organic chlorine compounds, agricultural chemicals, dioxin, PCB's and water soluble polymers that are contained in waste fluid, such as print developing waste fluids, factory waste water and industrial waste water, and landfill soil seeping waste water by carrying out electrolysis at a high current density to eliminate and purify difficult to decompose substances in the waste fluid. Waste fluid containing difficult to decompose substances is introduced into an electrolytic chamber having a ferrite electrode anode, electrolysis is performed at a high current density of 10 A/dmor higher, hypohalogenous acid and active oxygen are generated in the waste fluid along with a strong anode oxidation action being brought about, and the oxidation decomposition is repeated by re-circulating the waste fluid through a filter, electrolyzer and an intermediate collecting chamber.

Waste fluid or waste water treatment method and its apparatus

An alkaline electrolyte solution is electrolyzed by a diaphragm-less electrolyzer to provide electrolytic water as purging and disinfecting water. The alkaline electrolyte solution is a mixture of at least one alkaline electrolyte selected from caustic sodium carbonate, caustic potassium carbonate, phosphorous sodium carbonate and sodium hypochlorite, and at least one neutral salt selected from sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium bromide and potassium bromide. The purging and disinfecting water is added to a water circulatory system. The result is that contaminants and noxious chemicals in the circulatory system are oxidation decomposed to thereby purge the circulating water, and noxious microorganisms such as germs, yeasts, fungi, and viruses, growing in the water circulatory system and causing degradation of water or development of slime are disinfected and thereby purged from the water circulatory system. The purging and infecting method can be carried out in a simple manner with minimum cost.

A washing, cleaning and sterilizing solution is produced by electrolyzing an electrolyte solution composed of mixed caustic soda and salt in an electrolyzer. The solution is used as it is or diluted with tap water or non-potable water. The solution is applicable to washing, cleaning and sterilizing metal goods, medical instruments, nursing products, foodstuff, farm products, marine products, dishes, cooking utensils, plastic goods, surrounding, facilities, fiber products, machine parts, machine goods, various containers, electrical communication components, vehicles, or the like.

It is a compact water purification/sterilization method and its device with a high electrolytic efficiency in which even though it is used continuously for a long period of time in order to purify and sterilize water with low electrical conductivity such as the water from a swimming pool, bathtub, pond, 24-hour bath, farming tank or AC, there is no deterioration or breakage of the electrodes or deformation of the plastic case for the electrolyzing device due to heat, and even if the electrical flow per electrode surface area is increased, it provides superior long-term endurance performance. Barrel-shaped (cylindrical-shaped) anodes and cathodes are arranged alternately in a concentric manner in layers at given inter-electrode intervals. The anode is a ferrite rod with a long hole along the center axis direction or a ferrite pipe, and in the hole, heating so that it has fluidity, or mercury, which is liquid at ordinary temperature, is filled, in advance, fills a low-melting point metal. Then, a conductive metal terminal body is inserted so that the contact area between the terminal and the ferrite electrode is sufficient, and, additionally, the conductivity at the contact portion is increased. This electrolyzing device is directly immersed in the water and electrolysis is carried out.

Water purification/sterilization method and device therefor

A method and apparatus for treating an aqueous-containing sludge in which the sludge is filtered on an elongate moving sheet of a water permeable unwoven fabric on paper. The moving sheet is folded and compressed between rollers whereby to express water therefrom. The folded moving sheet and contained sludge is dried, and the dried sheet and sludge is incinerated. Combustion heat from the incineration step is used in the drying step.

Barrel-shaped anodes and cathodes are alternately arranged in layers in a concentric manner with space between the electrodes. Anodes are ferrite poles with a long hole along the center axis or a pipe, and the hole is filled with a metal with a low melting point heated to the temperature at which it has some fluidity. Alternatively the hole is filled with mercury, which is a liquid at room temperature, and then a conductive metal terminal main body is inserted so that it has a sufficient contact area between the terminal and the ferrite electrode,resulting in improved conductivity at the contact point. The waste water, which flows downstream, is caused to pass through the permeable sheet,, while the permeable sheet,travels in the treatment tank,so as to traverse the surface of the waste water on a downstream side in the flowing direction of the waste water. Therefore, not only the sludge in the waste water but also the oily substances floating in the waste water can be collected and removed because they cling to the permeable sheet,and are gathered by it. As a result, a waste water treatment tank,and the like can be maintained in a usable state for a long time. In addition, there can be obtained a treated water to which microbial treatment can be applied.

An electrolyzer,for electrolyzing water existing between electrode plates,disposed at a prescribed interval by imposing a voltage between the electrode plates is arranged such that at least the electrode plate,acting as an anode comprises a ferrite electrode including at least one hole,is formed therein, the interval between the hole and an extreme or terminal end of an electrode terminal,inserted into the hole,is filled with a conductive metal coupling member,that becomes deformed when the electrode terminal,is inserted in the hole so that the ferrite electrode,is made conductive to and arranged integrally with the electrode terminal,. Accordingly, in the electrolyzer,, the coupling resistance between the electrode terminal,and the electrode plate,is reduced as well as a large processing current can be flowed to the electrolyzer,for a long time even under conditions of low conductivity in which water having low conductivity is used, or the amount of an electrolyte required or necessary to be added to the water is reduced or minimized to some extent.

Disclosed is ice having a hypohalogenous acid concentration of 10 ppm or more and a melting point of &minus;0.03&deg; C. This ice has sufficient sterilizing power resulting from hypohalogenous acid having the above concentration and can be used in the state of ice for along time due to the above melting point. A method of manufacturing the ice is also disclosed.

When the water stored in a reservoir,and containing chlorine ion and/or bromine ion is supplied to and circulated through an electrolyzer,and electrolyzed therein to create hypochlorous acid and/or hypobromous acid so that the water is purified and sterilized, a potential difference measuring unit is interposed between a measuring electrode dipped into the water containing the hypochlorous acid and/or hypobromous acid and a reference electrode dipped into water having a prescribed electric conductivity and containing neither hypochlorous acid nor hypobromous acid to thereby evaluate a measured potential difference as a COD value which is an index of pollution. With this arrangement, there can be provided a waste accommodating bag, a waste treatment system using the waste accommodating bag and a waste treatment apparatus capable of simply dehydrating water-containing wastes such as sludge in a sludge tank (including a pond, lagoon, and the like as the target of the present invention) and easily and economically disposing of the wastes as well as stably subjecting the sludge in a combined treatment tank to a biological treatment.
