This display device includes: a drive processing unit inputs an input signal with respect to a plurality of drive lines; an output detection processing unit that detects an output signal that is output from a plurality of sense lines; a grouping processing unit that groups the plurality of drive lines into a plurality of groups each having a set grouped number of adjacent drive lines; and a touch operation detection processing unit that detects a touch operation made with respect to a touch panel based on a linear element sequence calculated by a matrix operation of an input sequence and an output sequence. The drive processing unit inputs the input signal having the same pattern to each of the grouped number of drive lines that have been grouped by the grouping processing unit.

A touch panel device includes a plurality of first and second electrode lines, a drive signal generation circuit, a sensing signal receiving circuit, and a drive signal amplifier circuit. The first electrode lines extend in a first direction. The second electrode lines extend in a second direction intersecting the first direction. The drive signal generation circuit generates a drive signal input to the first electrode lines. The sensing signal receiving circuit receives a sensing signal output from the second electrode lines and according to magnitude of capacitance at each of intersection points where the first and second electrode lines intersect each other. The drive signal amplifier circuit amplifies each drive signal input to the first electrode lines. An amplified drive signal amplified with the drive signal amplifier circuit is input to the first electrode lines.

In a touch panel display serving as an input display apparatus, a video signal input into a scaler is converted into a signal meeting a signal input condition of a liquid crystal module. The scaler generates a pseudo horizontal synchronization signal synchronized with a horizontal synchronization signal included in the converted video signal. An amount of delay corresponding to a kind of signal is given to the pseudo horizontal synchronization signal by a delay circuit and the pseudo horizontal synchronization signal is supplied to a touch panel control board. The touch panel control board disables the operation of a touch panel during a predetermined standby period based on a delayed horizontal synchronization signal generated by the delay circuit.

An image display apparatus includes an operation detecting unit, a display unit displaying an image, and a controller.
