A liquid crystal display (LCD) includes a cover assembly; a liquid crystal panel; a light guide plate configured to guide light to the liquid crystal panel; a printed circuit board (PCB) to which the light guide plate is mounted; and a light emitting diode (LED) package which is mounted on the PCB and emits light to a lateral side of the light guide plate. The PCB includes a base substrate; a connecting hole which is formed in the base substrate to couple the base substrate to the cover assembly with a connecting member; an insulating layer which is coated on the base substrate while avoiding a head part of the connecting member; and a spacer tape which is provided on an upper side of the insulating layer so that the light guide plate is evenly mounted on the PCB.

A curved display device is provided including a display panel having a constant curvature and displaying an image, a backlight unit having the same curvature as that of the display panel, disposed at a rear surface of the display panel, and emitting light to the display panel, and a control unit locally controlling light emission of the backlight unit such that luminance of a light leakage region of the display panel is adjusted. Occurrence of light leakage in the curved display device is prevented, and thus, luminance of the curved display device is kept constant.

The color lighting apparatus includes a light source, a color beam separating unit for separating incident light according to predetermined wavelength bands, a first condensing lens which condenses the light separated by the color beam separating unit, and a scrolling unit which changes the travel paths of beams separated according to the predetermined wavelength bands, forms color bars at different locations, and scrolls the incident light so as to periodically scroll the color bars. The image projection apparatus includes the color lighting apparatus, a second condensing lens which again focuses incident light, a uniform light forming unit which makes light passing through a scrolling unit into uniform light, an image forming device which forms an image from the light passing through the uniform light forming unit, and a projection lens unit which magnifies and projects the image produced form the image forming device onto a screen.

An optical pickup apparatus having compatibility with a recodable compact disk (CD-R) and a digital video disk (DVD), which uses a wavelength of one of a first light beam and a second light beam according to the recording medium to be used. In the optical pickup apparatus, laser light sources emit a first light beam having a relatively shorter wavelength for the. DVD and a second light beam having a longer wavelength for the CD-R, respectively. An objective lens has a predetermined focal length in accordance with the position of an information recording surface in the DVD. An optical path control unit controls the path of light beams so that the light beam emitted from one of the laser light sources is directed to the objective lens and the light output from the objective lens is directed to the optical detection unit. A phase shift unit which is located between the optical path control unit and the objective lens, shifts the phase of the second light proceeding from the optical path control unit to the objective lens, to thereby reduce the size of a beam spot which is formed on a position of the information recording surface in the CD-R.
