It is an object of the present invention to provide a light emitting element, which is resistant to repetition of an oxidation reaction. It is another object of the invention to provide a light emitting element, which is resistant to repetition of a reduction reaction. An anthracene derivative is represented by a general formula (1). In the general formula (1), R1 represents hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R2 represents any one of hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, R3 represents any one of hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, Ph1 represents a phenyl group, and X1 represents an arylene group having 6 to 15 carbon atoms.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a novel material which has excellent light-emitting efficiency, a light-emitting element provided with the novel material, and a light-emitting device using the light-emitting element. The present invention provides an anthracene derivative represented by the following general formula (1)

The present invention provides a composite material in which an organic compound and an inorganic compound are composited, which is superior in conductivity, a composite material which is superior in a property of injecting carriers to an organic compound, and a composite material having low resistance with metal. Further, the present invention provides a light emitting element operating at a low drive voltage by applying the composite material to a current excitation type light emitting element, and a light emitting device consuming low power by manufacturing a light emitting device using the light emitting element. The present invention provides a composite material including metal oxide and an organic compound having an oxidation peak potential with respect to an oxidation-reduction potential of ferrocene in dimethylformamide (DMF) at room temperature within the range of 0 V and 1.5 V (vs. Fc/Fc), preferably within the range of 0.1 V and 1.0 V (vs. Fc/Fc).

Disclosed is a composition including an anthracene derivative and a solvent and a method for fabricating a light-emitting element using the composition. The anthracene derivative has a diphenylanthracene moiety and a carbazole moiety linked to one of the phenyl groups of the diphenylanthracene moiety. The use of the composition enables the formation of a light-emitting element by a wet type method such as an ink-jet method, a spin coating method, and a dip coating method.

An object is to provide a light emitting element with low drive voltage which contains an organic compound and an inorganic compound. One feature of a light emitting element of the present invention is to include a layer containing a light emitting material between a pair of electrodes, in which the layer containing a light emitting material has a layer containing a carbazole derivative represented by General Formula (1) and an inorganic compound which exhibits an electron accepting property to the carbazole derivative represented by General Formula (1). With such a structure, the inorganic compound accepts electrons from the carbazole derivative, carriers are generated internally, and a drive voltage of the light emitting element can be reduced.

An object is to provide a carbazole derivative that is useful as a raw material in manufacturing a light emitting element material having resistance to repetition of an oxidation reaction. The carbazole derivative is represented by General Formula (1) in the following. In General Formula (1), Rrepresents any one selected from an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms such as methyl, ethyl, and tert-butyl, and an aryl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms such as phenyl, biphenyl, and naphthyl.
