The invention provides a control device for controlling at least one wirelessly connected lighting device within a wireless network, wherein the control device comprises: a transceiver configured to overhear and transmit a message within the wireless network; a light sensor configured to detect a light signal comprising a temporal characteristic that is characteristic for a first artificial light source; a processor operatively coupled to the light sensor and the transceiver, wherein the processor is configured to: determine, based on analyzing said temporal characteristic, a first condition that the light signal belongs to the of artificial light source, and transmit a control message to the at least one wirelessly connected lighting device upon determining said first condition.

Method and system for communicating via light signals

Retrofit LED tube for replacing a fluorescent tube

An uplink subsystem for use in an illumination system arranged for optical communication as well as the illumination system, the system comprising a downlink subsystem and the uplink subsystem. The uplink subsystem comprises sensors (e.g. infrared sensor) embedded in each luminaire in the group. The uplink subsystem also comprises a demodulator, and a distribution network for supplying the signals sensed to an adaptor to combine instances of the sensed uplink signal in a manner that takes into account a Time Division Medium Access scheme and a demodulator to demodulated the combined signal. The system further comprising a downlink subsystem that in turn comprises a modulator for generating a modulated waveform, and an optical fiber distribution network to distribute the modulated waveform to each luminaire in a group. Each such luminaire generates a drive current for driving a lighting element of that luminaire to emit light. Each also injects the modulated waveform into its drive current so as to embed the downlink signal in the emitted light.

Illumination system for communicating data

The invention provides a device for generating electrical currents of a particular desired waveform through the combining of a plurality of different frequency output currents generated by plurality of power generating arrangements. The power generating arrangements each comprise at least first and second sets of generating elements, configured to hold a relative charge and to be moveable with respect to one another in order to generate an electrical output current of a particular frequency.

Electrical current waveform generator, actuator and generation method

A system comprises a power generator for generating electrical power and a switched capacitor converter for down-converting the output voltage of the power generator. The switched capacitor converter comprises a bank of capacitors and a switch arrangement. A controller is used for controlling the switches, based on a feedback signal from the power generator. This provides automatic control of the switched capacitor converter, thereby simplifying the overall control circuitry and improving efficiency.

Energy generation system and method

The disclosure relates to an apparatus comprising a pole such as a light pole, and one or more removable modules adapted to be removably fitted to the pole. The apparatus further comprises, included in the lighting module or another of the modules, a controller comprising a wireless receiver for wirelessly receiving on-off signals from a remote control system. An inductive coupling between a primary winding in the light pole and a secondary winding in the lighting module is used to transfer power from a power supply of the pole to at least one of the removable modules, in order to power an element of that module. Further, a magnetic coupling is used to enable the controller to control a switch in the pole in order to connect and disconnect the primary winding to and from the power supply.

Light pole

The invention provides a current modulating circuit, for example for use in a driving circuit for driving a lighting load such as an LED arrangement. A current modulating element is provided in series with the lighting load, and modulates the current based on a data input signal. A feedback system controls the current modulating element, and it has a first feedback control path which uses a voltage across the current modulating element, and a second feedback control path which uses the data input signal. The voltage feedback is used to maintain the overall current equal to the current output from a driver. The difference in current is taken up by a capacitor at the output of the driver.

Current modulation circuit, a driving circuit, and a method for driving a lighting load with current modulation

In various embodiments, an apparatus for driving a load is disclosed. In one example, the apparatus comprises an input configured to, in a first state, receive an input signal, an output configured to, in the first state, provide a first output signal to a series arrangement of the load and a source, wherein the first output signal is configured to feed the load and to charge the source with input power provided via the input signal, and a converter configured to, in a second state different from the first state, convert a source signal from the source into a second output signal destined for the load, wherein the second output signal is configured to feed the load with source power provided by the source.

Dynamic control circuit

Control circuits () bring power converters () in different modes in response to detection results. The power converters () exchange possibly rectified first voltage/current signals with electronic halogen transformers () and supply second voltage/current signals to light emitting diode circuits (). The first current signals have, in different modes, different amplitudes. The different amplitudes have different constant values and/or different derivative values. As a result, the first current signal has become a relatively varying first current signal. Then, the halogen transformers () no longer experience problems that occur when smaller amounts of power need to be provided than designed to. The detections may comprise polarity detections of and/or zero-crossing detections in the first voltage signals. The halogen transformers () comprise self-oscillating switched mode power supplies designed to provide first amounts of power at their outputs. The light emitting diode circuits) are designed to consume second amounts of power smaller than the first amounts.
