A driving controller of a display device includes a driving frequency controller for receiving an image signal, determining a driving frequency based on the image signal, and outputting a masking enable signal corresponding to the driving frequency, and an image processor for converting the image signal into a data signal and outputting the data signal, wherein the image processor sequentially converts, based on the masking enable signal being at an active level, a part of bits of the image signal into the data signal corresponding to a plurality of dither patterns.

Driving controller for displaying image using dithering patterns and display device having the same

A display device includes a display panel with a first display area having a first light transmittance and a second display area having a second light transmittance higher than the first light transmittance. The display device also includes a driving controller which divides an image signal into a first image signal corresponding to a first pixel unit in the first display area and a second image signal corresponding to a second pixel unit and a non-pixel unit adjacent to the second pixel unit. The display controller calculates the second image signal with a preset kernel matrix, and outputs a data signal corresponding to the second pixel unit in the second display area.

Display device

A display device includes a display panel, a memory, a dithering processor, and a panel driver. The display panel includes a display surface, and the memory stores dither patterns with respect to at least one spot area included in the display surface. The dithering processor selects a dither pattern among the dither patterns in a predetermined time unit and outputs a compensation image signal corresponding to the dither pattern. The panel driver outputs a data signal corresponding to the spot area based on the compensation image signal. Each of the dither patterns includes a first grayscale area having a first grayscale value higher than a first target grayscale value of the spot area and a second grayscale area having a second grayscale value lower than the first target grayscale value.

An object detection post-processing device of a display device, includes: an input to receive position information of an object that is detected from input image data for the display device in a current frame; a position information storage device to accumulatively store the position information of a plurality of previous frames; an accumulated position calculator to generate accumulated position information according to the position information of the current frame and the position information of the plurality of previous frames; and a position information determiner to determine final position information according to the accumulated position information, and to output the final position information.

A luminance control circuit of a display device includes a target luminance gain calculator calculating a target luminance gain based on an average luminance of a first image signal when the first image signal is determined to be a still image, an output luminance gain calculator calculating an output luminance gain based on a previous output luminance gain of a previous frame and the target luminance gain of a present frame, and a luminance scaler outputting a second image signal obtained by changing a luminance of the first image signal based on the output luminance gain.

Luminance control circuit and display device having the same

Provided is a display apparatus including a display panel, a timing controller, a gate driver, and a data driver. The display panel includes a plurality of pixels and a plurality of sub-pixels. Two pixels among the pixels include five sub-pixels and temporally share a third sub-pixel among the five sub-pixels. The timing controller includes a filter that is set based on a region having the same area as four sub-pixels. The timing controller generates RGBW data having red, green, blue, and white data based on input data, and applies the filter to the RGBW data to generate output data corresponding to each of the sub-pixels.

A display panel includes a plurality of gate lines extending in a first direction and including first and second gate lines adjacent to each other. A plurality of data lines extends in a second direction that crosses the first direction and includes first and second data lines adjacent to each other. A plurality of sub-pixels are arranged in a matrix configuration, each row of the matrix being disposed between two adjacent gate lines, from among the plurality of gate lines, each column of the matrix being disposed between two adjacent data lines, from among the plurality of data lines. The plurality of sub-pixels includes first column sub-pixels disposed on a first column of the matrix and connected to the first data line. Second column sub-pixels are disposed on a second column of the matrix and are connected to the second data line, the second column being adjacent to the first column. First row sub-pixels are disposed on a first row of the matrix and are alternately connected to the first and second gate lines in units of two sub-pixels.

A display apparatus includes a liquid crystal panel including gate lines, data lines, and pixels, a gate driver, a data driver, and a timing controller. The pixels include first and second pixels. The first and second pixels are arranged in pixel rows adjacent to each other, arranged in different pixel columns, connected to the same gate line, display the same color, and receive data voltages having different polarities from each other. The image data include first pixel data displayed in the first pixels and second pixel data displayed in the second pixels. When the first pixel data have a first grayscale value and the second pixel data have a second grayscale value different from the first grayscale value, the timing controller modulates the first and second pixel data to allow the first and second pixel data to have a grayscale value between the first and second grayscale values.
