Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network node, a network assistant information (NAI) message identifying a set of characteristics of a network connection. The UE may communicate with the network node using a communication configuration associated with the set of characteristics of the network connection. Numerous other aspects are described.

Network assistant information for user equipment troubleshooting

Methods are proposed to define UE behavior for performing synchronization signal block (SSB) based radio link monitoring (RLM) and channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) based RLM. In a first novel aspect, if CSI-RS based RLM-RS is not QCLed to any CORESET, then UE determines that CSI-RS RLM configuration is error and does not perform RLM accordingly. In a second novel aspect, SSB for RLM and RLM CSI-RS resources are configured with different numerologies. UE perform SSB based RLM and CSI-RS based RLM based on whether the SSB and CSI-RS resources are TDMed configured by the network. In a third novel aspect, when multiple SMTC configurations are configured to UE, UE determines an SMTC period and whether SMTC and RLM-RS are overlapped for the purpose of RLM evaluation period determination.

Method for NR radio link monitoring (RLM) and evaluation period determination

Techniques and examples of determination of receiver (RX) beam for radio link monitoring (RLM) based on available spatial quasi-co-location (QCL) information in New Radio (NR) mobile communications are described. An apparatus receives downlink (DL) signaling from a network. The apparatus determines whether to extend an evaluation period of RLM based on a quasi-co-location (QCL) association provided in at least the DL signaling. The apparatus then executes extension of the evaluation period of the RLM, or not, based on a result of the determining.

Spatial quasi-co-location for radio link monitoring in new radio mobile communications

Techniques and examples of evaluation period for radio link monitoring (RLM) in New Radio (NR) mobile communications are described. An apparatus performs RLM with respect to a radio link with a cell of a wireless network. In performing the RLM, the apparatus determines whether an RLM reference signal (RLM-RS) is overlapped with one or more other reference signals and, responsive to a result of the determining indicating that the RLM-RS is at least partially overlapped with the one or more other reference signals, extends an evaluation period for the RLM.

Conditional extension of evaluation period for radio link monitoring in new radio mobile communications

Techniques and examples of overhead reduction for linear combination codebook and feedback mechanism in mobile communications are described. A user equipment (UE) receives from a base station of a network one or more reference signals via a communication link between the UE and the base station. The UE constructs a channel state information (CSI) feedback by utilizing a correlation of channel responses in a frequency domain to reduce feedback overhead. The UE then transmits the CSI feedback to the base station.

Overhead reduction for linear combination codebook and feedback mechanism in mobile communications

Methods to support measurements for LTE user equipments are proposed. Due to reduced bandwidth design for cost reduction, resources for UEs are limited to contiguous six physical resource block (PRB) pairs (1.4 MHz). Six or less contiguous PRBs per narrow sub-band located in the whole channel bandwidth is allocated for transmission and reception for UEs. Novel control channel and data channel designs are proposed to make UEs be able to camp on LTE cells. Methods for intra-frequency measurement, for received signal time difference (RSTD) measurement, and for channel quality assessment for UEs are also provided. In one embodiment, UE is allocated with a measurement gap for intra-frequency measurements and RSTD measurements. In another embodiment, UE is configured with a frequency-hopping pattern and receives a PRB pair starting index per subframe for CSI measurement.

Methods to support measurements for user equipment

Narrowband downlink control channel (NB-PDCCH) design for Narrowband Internet of Thing (IoT) devices is proposed. In one novel aspect, NB-PDCCH spans both first and second slots in the region of legacy physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH). A plurality of physical resource blocks (PRBs) is allocated for NB-PDCCH transmission that carry downlink control information (DCI). Furthermore, each NB-IoT device can be configured with nPRB pairs for NB-PDCCH transmission (e.g., n=1, 2, 4, or 8), and an NB-PDCCH transmission time interval (TTI) is composed by nsubframes. An NB-PDCCH is encoded and occupies multiple narrowband control channel elements (NCCEs) based on aggregation level. In a preferred embodiment, each PRB pair for NB-PDCCH occupies two NCCEs.

Physical downlink control channel design for narrow band internet of things

A method of TDM in-device coexistence (IDC) interference avoidance is proposed. In a wireless communication device, a first radio module is co-located with a second radio module in the same device platform. The first radio module obtains traffic and scheduling information of the second radio module. The first radio module then determines a desired TDM pattern based on the traffic and scheduling information to prevent IDC interference with the second radio module. The first radio module also transmits TDM coexistence pattern information based on the desired TDM pattern to a base station. In one embodiment, the TDM coexistence pattern information comprises a recommended TDM pattern periodicity and a scheduling period to maximize IDC efficiency subject to limited level of IDC interference possibility. In one specific example, the TDM coexistence pattern information comprises a set of discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration parameters defined in long-term evolution (LTE) 3GPP standards.

Method of TDM in-device coexistence interference avoidance

A two-step uplink synchronization method is provided for uplink synchronization between a mobile station and a pico/femto base station that is deployed together with an overlay macro/micro base station. In a first step, the pico/femto BS encodes and broadcasts UL transmission timing advance offset information via a broadcast channel. The MS decodes the received UL transmission timing advance offset information and advances its uplink timing for uplink ranging or reference signal transmission based on the decoded offset value. In a second step, the MS and the pico/femto BS performs regular uplink synchronization and uplink access. In one example, the UL transmission timing advance offset information indicates a round-trip propagation time of radio signals between the pico/femto base station and the overlay macro/micro base station. By using the two-step uplink synchronization method, a unified synchronous ranging channel may be used for ranging and UL access in pico/femtocells with reduced interference.
