A tension mask frame assembly for a color cathode ray tube (CRT) includes a frame and a tension mask installed to apply tension to the support members, and wherein a plurality of electron beam passing holes are formed. The frame includes; a pair of first and second support members separated by a predetermined distance; first and second elastic members installed between the first and second support members, and supporting the first and second support members; and first, second, third, and fourth holder units installed on the first and second support members and the first and second elastic members, and respectively including first, second, third, and fourth holders and first, second, third, and fourth springs fixed to the first, second, third, and fourth holders. The thermal expansion coefficient of the material forming the third and fourth holders is no more than that of the material forming the first and second elastic members.

Tension mask frame assembly and cathode ray tube having the same

A tension mask frame assembly of a color CRT includes a tension mask in which a plurality of electron beam passing holes are formed and a frame. The frame includes a pair of first and second support members separated a predetermined distance from each other and supporting the tension mask so that a tensile force is applied to the tension mask. First and second elastic members are installed between both end portions of each of the first and second support members, supporting the first and second support members to be separated a predetermined distance from each other to compensate for an amount of thermal expansion of the tension mask, and having inclined portions inclined at a predetermined angle. Bars connect the first and second support members and are made of a material having a thermal expansion coefficient smaller than that of the first and second elastic members.

A mask-frame assembly for a color cathode-ray tube comprising a first and second support members spaced out a predetermined distance; first and second resilient support members installed between the first and second support members supporting the first and second support members, each at the first and second resilient support members comprising supports fixed to the first and second support members and a connecting portion connecting the supports; a mask installed at the first and second support members such that tension is applied thereto, the mask comprising a plurality of electron beam through holes; and a compensating unit connected between the first and second support members or the supports of the resilient support members between each connecting portion and the mask, the compensating unit being formed of a material having a lower thermal expansion coefficient than the first and second resilient support members.

Each of the elastic members is formed in a continuously nonlinear-shape in its longitudinal direction.
