A ballistic radome is provided and includes a flattened radome portion disposable in a primary field of view (FOV) of an antenna and a curved radome portion configured to define an extended FOV of the antenna about the primary FOV.

Ballistic radome with extended field of view

A method of detecting an object includes receiving first reflected radio frequency (RF) signals from a region using an antenna and generating a first backscattering signature of the region from the first reflected RF signals. The method further includes receiving second reflected RF signals from the region subsequent to receiving the first reflected RF signals and generating at least one second backscattering signature of the region from the second reflected RF signals. The method further includes detecting a difference between the first backscattering signature and the second backscattering signature, and providing a warning indication in response to the difference between the first backscattering signature and the second backscattering signature.

RF gun barrel detection system

According to one embodiment of the invention, a radome cover for an RF sensor has been provided. The radome cover comprises a first and a second ballistic layer, each ballistic layer having a ceramic layer. The two ballistic layers are sandwiched between at least two matching layers, and the matching layers are impedance matched to the ceramic layers. The radome cover provides ballistic protection for the RF sensor.

According to one embodiment, a radome configured to extend over an opening of an antenna and includes a rigid layer overlying a ballistic-resistant layer. The rigid layer includes a honeycomb base material having a plurality of holes that extend transversely to the surface of the ballistic-resistant layer.

Honeycomb-backed armored radome

According to one embodiment of the invention, a radome cover for an RF sensor has been provided. The radome cover comprises a ceramic core and at least two layers. The ceramic core is sandwiched between the at least two layers and the at least two layers are impedance matched to the ceramic core. The radome cover provides ballistic protection for the RF sensor.
