A lock assembly is disclosed that includes a base formed from a magnetic flux conducting material, the base secure to a chassis. A pin slidably disposed in the base and configured to move from a first open position to a second closed position. A magnet, disposed on a surface of a riser and configured to create a force on the pin that causes the pin to move from the open position to the closed position when the riser is disposed with the chassis.

Auto-lock structure for riser

An information processing system includes a processor, a memory device, and riser card. The riser card includes a riser card cage, a circuit card, and a baffle. The circuit card is installed into the riser card cage and includes a card edge and a connector affixed to the circuit card. The card edge is configured to be installed into another connector on an information handling system in a first orientation. The connector is configured to receive a card edge of an add-in card in a second orientation perpendicular to the first orientation. The baffle is integrated with the riser card cage. The baffle is configured to divert a first air flow from the processor away from the riser card cage, and to channel a second air flow from the memory device into the riser card cage.

System and method for integrated thermal and cable routing for server rear modules

An assembly is disclosed that includes a planar surface, a reconfigurable housing disposed on the planar surface, a hinge assembly coupled to the reconfigurable housing, a door coupled to the hinge assembly, the door having a latch that is configured to secure the door in a closed position against the reconfigurable housing and a seal configured to reduce airflow through the reconfigurable housing.

Multiple function chassis mid-channel

A chassis includes a housing of an expansion card receiver adapted to house an expansion card and limit removal of the expansion card to a removal path; and a card holder of the expansion card. The card holder, while a retention member of the card holder is disposed in the removal path, receives a translation force directed away from the expansion card along the removal path; in response to receiving the translation force: translates the retention member along the removal path away from the expansion card until the retention member reaches a translation limiter to transition the retention member from a translatable state to a rotatable state, while the retention member is in the rotatable state and not in the translatable state: receives a rotation force directed out of the removal path; and in response to receiving the rotation force, rotate the retention member out of the removal path.

System and method for securing components in a chassis

A handle for a computer component, such as a motherboard, of an information handling system may have an adjustable size. By allowing the handle to change size, the advantages of a large handle, such as easy handling and reduced damage to nearby components, are gained, and the advantages of a small handle, such as reduced size and improved airflow, are gained. The handle may be affixed to a computer component by any fastener such as a screw, pin, clip, or plastic connector. The handle may change size by increasing in height from a collapsed position to an expanded position, or change size by decreasing in height from an expanded position to a collapsed position. The handle may be moved into the expanded position for handling during assembly or repairs of a computer system, and then moved in to the collapsed position for normal operation of the computer system.

Extendable handle for computer component

A foam sealing block is provided for sealing a cable channel by which one or more cables traverse into an air-cooled compartment. The foam sealing block may folded around the cables and positioned within the cable channel. The insertion of the folded foam sealing block prevents the transfer of air from the air-cooled compartment via the cable channel, while still allowing the cables to traverse the cable channel. The top surface of the foam sealing block may formed from offset rows of protrusions, such as hemispherical shaped protrusions. The dimensions and shape of the protrusions may be selected based on the physical characteristics of the cables traversing the cable channel. The bottom surface of the foam sealing block may be formed from a perforated, rigid bracket that allows the foam sealing block to fit securely within the cable channel.

Airflow sealing solution

An apparatus may include a connector configured to receive an information handling resource, and a riser configured to provide mechanical support to the information handling resource when the information handling resource is received in the connector, wherein the riser is configured to accept a first type of information handling resource having a first length along a selected direction, and a second type of information handling resource having a second length along the selected direction, the second length being greater than the first length. The riser may include a fixed portion, and a rear portion rotatably coupled to the fixed portion, the rear portion including a slidable member configured to slide from a first position to a second position along the selected direction, the first position allowing the riser to accept the first type, and the second position allowing the riser to accept the second type of information handling resource.

Card riser

An information handling system routes cables from a chassis interior to a chassis exterior through a cable channel defined in the housing and having airflow managed by a blocking element biased to a closed position. As cable configurations change, the blocking element adapts to fit cables through the cable channel in a compact manner that minimizes cooling airflow escape through the cable channel. Automated adjustments to a cooling fan profile based upon a predicted cable configuration and associated airflow help to ensure adequate cooling as airflow characteristics change due to the presence of cables and an expected position of the blocking element.

Information handling system cable seal

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a latch may include a pivoting member and a leaf-spring member. The pivoting member may be configured to rotatably couple the latch to a chassis such that the latch may rotate between a first position and a second position relative to the chassis. The leaf-spring feature may be shaped and arranged in order to, as the latch is rotated between the first position and the second position, apply a mechanical force to a first circuit board to mate a first connector of the first circuit board to a second connector of a second circuit board.

Systems and methods for tool-less board to board coupling

A latch and release mechanism for a computer component may allow release of the component with reduced force and easier access through a cam lever that rotates around a pivot point, such as a pin, to translate rotational motion into a force to unlock the drive from a bay of a chassis. Additionally, the cam lever may be configured to provide a force that ejects the drive from the bay nearly simultaneously with the unlocking of the drive. Thus, a user can remove a drive from a bay with a small application of a single type of force to the cam lever of a latch and release mechanism.

Lever release mechanism for a computer component

Systems and apparatuses for ensuring proper heat sink installation in an information handling system are disclosed. The information handling system may include a first receiving mechanism configured to receive a first component and to be coupled with a first heat sink for cooling the first component. The information handling system may further include a second receiving mechanism configured to receive a second component and to be interchangeably coupled with one of the first heat sink and a second heat sink for cooling the second component. The information handling system may further include a bracket associated with the first receiving mechanism, the bracket having a key configured to allow the first receiving mechanism to be coupled with the first heat sink and to prevent the first receiving mechanism from being coupled with the second heat sink.

Ensuring proper heat sink installation in information handling systems

An air baffle for directing air within an information handling system is disclosed. The air baffle includes an open region configured to permit passage of an airflow, a closed region configured to obstruct passage of the airflow, and a variable region between the open region and the closed region. The air baffle further includes an adjustable tab configured to obstruct passage of the airflow. The variable region is configured to permit and obstruct passage of the airflow based on a position of the adjustable tab with respect to the variable region.
