The lens barrel includes an object-side portion, a tubular portion and a tip-end minimal aperture. The object-side portion includes a first assembling surface. The tubular portion includes a plurality of second assembling surfaces. The optical element set includes at least one light blocking sheet and at least one optical lens element. The light blocking sheet includes an object-side surface, an image-side surface and an inner opening surface. The optical lens element includes an optical effective portion and a peripheral portion. The object-side portion of the lens barrel includes a first reversing inclined surface gradually enlarged from the tip-end minimal aperture to the image side of the lens barrel, and the first reversing inclined surface is not contacted with the optical element set.

An optical system includes an image surface, an aperture stop, a first and a second quarter-wave plate, a partial reflector, a reflective polarizer, a first and a second optical lens element. The image surface and the aperture stop are respectively at a front side and a rear side of the optical system. The first quarter-wave plate is between the image surface and the aperture stop. The partial reflector between the first quarter-wave plate and the aperture stop has an average light reflectivity of 35%. A variable aperture module includes a blade assembly including movable blades, a positioning element including positioning structures and a driving part including a rotation element. The movable blades are disposed around an optical axis to form a light passable hole with adjustable size for different hole size states and each have an inner surface to define the contour of the light passable hole in each hole size state. The positioning structures correspond to the movable blades. The rotation element is rotatable with respect to the positioning element and is configured to rotate the movable blades to adjust a size of the light passable hole. There are matte structures disposed on each inner surface. Each matte structure is single structure extending towards the optical axis, such that at least part of the contour of the light passable hole has an undulating shape at least in several hole size states.

The third lens element has positive refractive power, wherein at least one of two surfaces of the third lens element is aspheric, and the third lens element is made of plastic material. The compact optical system further comprises a stop located between the first lens element and the second lens element. The first, second, and third lens elements are all stationary relative to one another in a paraxial region.
