A user equipment (UE) may receive a list of Public Land Mobile Networks (PLMNs) that support a given network slice in a given country, different from a home country of a home PLMN of the UE. When roaming in the given country, UE may access a PLMN of the list if the given network slice is desired. The list may be provided by the home PLMN: while the UE is in the home country; or via a visited PLMN while the UE is in the given country. The list may be received in response to a UE-initiated request, or pushed to the UE by the home PLMN. A validity timer period received with the list may indicate a duration of validity of the list. In an alternative scenario, the UE may receive the list from an entitlement server, e.g., one belonging to a visited PLMN.

Selection of slice-supporting PLMNs while roaming away from home network

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for performing efficient discovery of edge computing servers. A wireless device may provide an edge compute request to an edge discovery service, which may indicate one or more criteria for the edge compute request. The edge discovery service may select one or more edge application servers for the edge compute request based on edge compute resource availability profile information that it stores for multiple edge application servers and the one or more criteria for the edge compute request. The edge discovery service may provide a response to the edge compute request to the wireless device, which may include an indication of the selected edge application server or servers.

This disclosure relates to techniques for supporting multiple Quality of Service flows for a service data flow in a wireless communication system. The service data flow may include multiple categories of data with different Quality of Service parameters. A cellular network and a wireless device communicating data for the service data flow may apply packet detection rules or packet filters to determine on which Quality of Service Flow to communicate data packets of the service data flow, and may communicate the data packets accordingly.

An access and mobility management function (AMF) queries the NSQ on whether quota is available for registration of a UE on a network slice in response to a notification of successful authorization and/or authentication (AAA) of the UE. Alternatively, the AMF may preemptively capture one or more units of network slice quota for the UE prior to initiation of the AAA procedure. The AMF may start a timer after UE deregistration is initiated, and not relinquish the quota unit held by the UE until after the timer's expiration. The network may also include a session management function (SMF) that provides UE identification as well as PDU Session ID when requesting registration of a UE.

Enhancements for handling network slice quota

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for SoR list management and PLMN selection based on an SoR list. A UE may receive an SoR container which may include a list of OPLMNs. The UE may store a prior list of OPLMNs stored on a USIM of the UE on a memory of the UE. The UE replace the prior list of OPLMNs stored on the USIM with the list of OPLMNs included in the SoR container. The UE may consider the prior list of OPLMNs as a lower priority list as compared to the list of OPLMNs stored on the USIM. Additionally, in response to determining to move from a current PLMN, the UE may scan for a new PLMN based on the list of OPLMNs stored on the USIM.

Steering of roaming PLMN list update and management

A user equipment (UE) or other device performs service discovery of edge computing resources in a cellular network system and dynamic offloading of UE application tasks to discovered edge computing resources. As part of the discovery process, the device (e.g., the UE) may request edge server site capability information. When performing dynamic offloading, the UE may obtain (collect and/or receive) information regarding channel conditions, cellular network parameters or application requirements and dynamically determine whether a task of the application executing on the UE should be offloaded to an edge server or executed locally on the UE. In making decisions between offloaded or local execution, the UE may use a utility function that takes into account factors such as relative differences in application latency, energy consumption and offloading cost.

Dynamic service discovery and offloading framework for edge computing based cellular network systems

A user equipment (UE) displays a list of available networks for manual network selection. The UE detects multiple networks during a public land mobile network (PLMN) scan, wherein the multiple networks include one or more PLMNs and one or more stand-alone non-public networks (SNPNs), generates a manual network selection list that includes at least i) the one or more PLMNs or ii) the one or more SNPNs, determines a sequence in which entries of the manual network selection list are to be displayed at the UE, displays a graphical user interface (GUI) that includes a representation of the manual network selection list and registers with one of the multiple networks in response to user input.

Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) and/or cellular network to perform to perform capability updates. Under at least some circumstances, the UE may use a non-cellular (e.g., non-3GPP) access to transmit updated capability information to a cellular network. Elements of the core of the cellular network may provide an identifier corresponding to the updated capability information to the UE for use in future registrations with the cellular network. Further, the core network may provide the updated capability information to a cellular radio access network associated the cellular network. The UE and the cellular network may communicate according to the updated capability.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for EPS fallback when initiating a voice call while camped on a 5G cell. The UE may camp on a 5G network by performing an IMS registration procedure/IMS SIP invite procedure with an IMS. The UE may initiate a voice call and determine that the voice call cannot be established over the 5G NR network. In response, the UE may perform a TAU procedure or an attachment procedure with a cell of a 4G network. The IMS may be transferred to the 4G network during TAU/attachment procedure. The UE may, in response to determining that it is barred from the 4G network, transition back to the 5G network and transmit, to the 5G NR network, a SIP cancel request to allow a context associated with the UE to be cleared from the IMS.

5G NR voice call EPS fallback enhancements

Several techniques using a network slice quota (NSQ) management function provide dynamic adjustment in order to meet the limitation of data rate per network slice in the uplink and downlink wireless connections in a wireless network. In one technique, when the limit is reached, the session aggregated maximum bit rates (AMBR) per subscription level is adjusted in proportionate ratio of the maximum bit rate per subscription level per user equipment (UE). In another technique, when the limit is reached, there is a proportionate equivalent increment and decrement of session AMBR based on usage patterns of the subscription levels. In a further technique, when the limit is reached, there is a proportionate equivalent increment and decrement of slice resources based on usage patterns. In yet another technique, a quota update is attempted using the Unified Data Repository (UDR).
