A rotary machine seal assembly () includes seal segments () configured to circumferentially extend around a rotor () between a stator () and the rotor () of a rotary machine. One or more seal segments include a shoe plate (), a seal base (), and at least one intermediate member (). The shoe plate is disposed along the rotor. The seal base is disposed radially outward of the shoe plate. At least one intermediate member is coupled to and disposed between the seal base and the shoe plate. The at least one intermediate member includes an actuator portion () having first coefficient of thermal expansion and a constrictor portion () having a different, second coefficient of thermal expansion. The at least one intermediate member is configured to move the shoe plate from a radially outward position to a radially inward position with respect to the rotor responsive to the at least one intermediate member undergoing a temperature change.

Seal assembly for a rotary machine

A system is provided for providing action inducers to target consumer entities. The system accesses transactions relating to actions involving a consumer entity and a provider entity. The system generates training data based on the transactions. The training data includes a feature vector for each consumer entity that includes values for features derived from the transactions involving that consumer entity and a provider entity. Each feature vector is labeled with an outcome that indicates whether a previously provided action inducer induced the consumer entity to take an action. The system trains a classifier based on the training data, generates a target feature vector for a target consumer entity, applies the classifier to the target feature vector to generate a predicted outcome for the target action inducer, and when the predicted outcome satisfies an inducement criterion, provides the target action inducer to the target consumer entity.

A rotor assembly is provided. The rotor assembly includes a plurality of blades spaced circumferentially. An airfoil of each blade includes a pressure side, a suction side, a pressure side nub extending from the pressure side, and a suction side nub extending from the suction side. An airfoil length is greater than one of (i) 40 inches, wherein the rotor is configured for operation at about 3600 rpm, and (ii) 48 inches, wherein the rotor is configured for operation at about 3000 rpm. The rotor assembly also includes a plurality of sleeves. Each of the sleeves extends from a first end to a second end. The first end is coupled to the pressure side nub of a first of the blades and the second end is coupled to the suction side nub of an adjacent second of the blades.

The present disclosure is directed to a heat flux assembly for an energy storage device. The energy storage device includes a housing with a plurality of side walls that define an internal volume and a plurality of cells configured within the internal volume. The heat flux assembly includes a plurality of heat flux components configured for arrangement with the side walls of the housing of the energy storage device and one or more temperature sensors configured with each of the plurality of heat flux components. Thus, the temperature sensors are configured to monitor one or more temperatures at various locations in the plurality of heat flux components. The heat flux assembly also includes a controller configured to adjust a power level of each of the heat flux components as a function of the monitored temperature so as to reduce a temperature gradient or difference across the plurality of cells during operation of the energy storage device.

A bolt tensioning assembly includes a bolt having a through-hole extending longitudinally through the bolt. A ram is inserted into the through-hole. A top cap is configured to be attached to a first end portion of the bolt. A load distributing member is configured to engage the ram at a location adjacent a second end portion of the bolt to distribute a force exerted thereon by the ram, and an actuator is connected to the top cap to exert a force on the ram to cause the ram to engage the load distributing member such that the bolt is placed under tensile stress.

The present disclosure is directed to an improved energy storage device having a housing with one or more side walls that define an internal volume. The side walls include a bottom side wall and a front side wall having an air inlet and outlet. The energy storage device also includes a plurality of cells arranged in a matrix within the internal volume atop the bottom side wall. Further, the cells define a top surface. In addition, the energy storage device includes an airflow distribution network configured with the air inlet and the air outlet. Moreover, the airflow distribution network is at least partially sealed from the plurality of cells (e.g. at the front side wall) so as to reduce temperature variability across the cells when external air is provided through the air inlet.

A method for monitoring non-rotating turbomachine parts includes the step of measuring displacement of at least one turbomachine part. A monitoring step monitors displacement of the turbomachine part with a non-contact type sensor. A collecting step collects data regarding the displacement of the turbomachine part. An analyzing step analyzes the data to determine if the displacement exceeds a predetermined threshold range. The non-contact type sensor may be attached to the turbomachine by a rod formed of a material having a low coefficient of thermal expansion, and a target may be attached to a stationary structure in close proximity to the non-contact type sensor.

In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, an assembly of tubular cell insulator casings is provided. The assembly includes a plurality of tubular cell insulator casings, wherein each cell insulator casing is open at a top end and configured to surround at least one of a plurality of electrically interconnected electrochemical cells, wherein said plurality of tubular cell insulator casings comprises a monolithic unit. The modular electrochemical device includes a plurality of electrical connectors configured to electrically connect the cell modules within a cell tray apparatus, and to electrically connect the cell tray apparatuses to each other.

The thermal management device includes an insulator with a maximum use temperature of at least 200 degrees Celsius, and a heating element having at least one heater leg, where the heater leg contacts the insulator and is configured to supply thermal energy. The heating element also has lead wires configured to provide a parallel electrical connection between the heater leg and a current source.
