A method and a corresponding device for generating true random numbers for use in encryption of a message for secure transmission of said message from a sending device to a receiver, or for authentication of a sent message. An optical image represented by optical data is obtained by an optical sensor and processed in order to improve the stochasticity of the optical data. The thus processed data is then used for generating random numbers which can be used as an encryption key, or for generating an encryption key, for subsequent use in an encryption algorithm for encrypting the message. The method is implemented in a digital pen (DP) to be used in an information management system.

Method and device for encrypting a message

A system for information management consists of a product, for instance a notepad sheet, which has a writing surface () with a position code (), which codes a plurality of positions on the surface, and a device, which is adapted to record the information which is being written on the writing surface by detecting the position code. Moreover, on the product there are a number of activation icons (-). When such an activation icon is detected by the device, the device initiates a predetermined operation which utilizes the recorded information. Such an operation can, for instance, consist of sending the recorded information to an indicated address. A product, a device, a method and a computer program for information management are also shown.

Network-based system

A method for secure transmission of information from a digital pen to a receiving device is provided. The method includes obtaining, in the digital pen, a message in the form of a plurality of position indications recorded from a position code on a substrate; sending at least one of the position indications to a database device; receiving from the database device an address of a receiving device which is associated with the at least one position indication and an encryption key relating to the receiving device, the encryption key being associated with the at least one position indication; encrypting the message using the encryption key received from the database device; and transmitting the encrypted message to the address of the receiving device.

Method and device for secure wireless transmission of information

Method and system for information association based on an absolute position coding pattern comprising dots or markings which codes coordinates for a position on an imaginary surface. The imaginary surface comprises several regions which are divided in areas, each defined by said coordinates. Handwritten information is digitized by a handheld device which is moved over a surface provided with said pattern and acts like a pen to make notes on the surface. At the same time, the pattern is sensed and coordinates for the pen is calculated regularly. By passing the handheld device over the borderline between areas having different coordinates, a hyperline is generated having a discontinuity. Such a hyperline is easily recognized by the computer system and is used for connecting information at different areas, giving information some properties, like color, or performing an action on the information, such as encryption, or transferring the information to a recipient.

Method and system for information association

A payment product has a writing area ( ) which is intended for a user's signature. In the writing area there is a first position-coding pattern ( ) which makes possible digital recording of the signature. The first position-coding pattern is a subset of a larger second position-coding pattern. The payment product is used in a payment system which is based on electronic payment information, which has been recorded by means of the position-coding pattern, being sent to a server unit, which utilizes the position-coding pattern to check that the payment information is valid.

Information management system with authenticity check

A business card and a pen, which is adapted to detect a position-coding pattern on the business card and calculate a coordinate by means of the pattern. When activating a send box by means of the pen, a computer sends a .vcf file containing the card holder's particulars to a card recipient belonging to the pen holder. When using an optional pen, the .vcf file is sent to a recipient indicated on the keypad of a mobile phone or written on the business card in associated fields or marked in other manners. The pen communicates with a computer wirelessly, for instance via Bluetooth, mobile phone and the Internet. Additional information can be drawn on the back of the business card and be attached to the transmission, such as date and time for the next meeting, a small drawing or sketch etc.
