A device endpoint is accessed through an off-premise communications network relative to the device endpoint. The device endpoint is registered to a virtual device object in data storage of a device service, the device service and the device endpoint communicating across the off-premise communications network, the virtual device object storing a secure device endpoint identifier of the device endpoint. A virtual device identifier associated with the secure device endpoint identifier of the device endpoint is stored in the virtual device object. A request to access the device endpoint using the virtual device identifier is received. The secure device endpoint identifier associated with the virtual device identifier in the virtual device object is read. The device endpoint is notified of a pending job associated with the secure device endpoint identifier. The pending job is communicated to the device endpoint identified by the secure device endpoint identifier.

Systems, devices, and methods are described herein for geometrically simplifying three-dimensional (3D) video data. In one aspect, a method may include obtaining 3D data, with the 3D data including a plurality of portions associated with a default resolution priority. A higher resolution priority may be associated with one or more portions of the 3D data. Next, portions of the 3D data may be sorted according to resolution priorities associated with each portion, and geometric simplification may be performed on the sorted portions of the 3D data, beginning with portions associated with a least resolution priority and continuing with portions associated with successively higher resolution priorities. The simplified 3D data may be processed, for example, for rendering on a computing device or transmission to another device for display or generation, such as a 3D printing device for generating a 3D object.

The claimed subject matter includes techniques for printing a three-dimensional (3D) object. An example system includes a network interface to obtain a 3D model from a client system. The example system also includes a print bureau data collection engine to identify capabilities of a plurality of print bureaus. The example system also includes a print bureau filter to compare characteristics of the 3D model with capabilities of the plurality of print bureaus to identify a subset of the plurality print bureaus that are able to print the 3D model and send the subset to the client system via the network interface.

Described herein is a system and method for scanning a three-dimensional object using data from an infrared sensor. The data can be used during preprocessing, reconstructing and/or post processing of generation of a three-dimensional model. Data from an infrared sensor and data from a sensor (e.g., RGB sensor, a depth sensor, a camera, a scanner, a digital camera, a digital video camera, a web camera, depth sensor, etc.) can be utilized to generate a three-dimensional model of the three-dimensional object. For example, the data from the infrared sensor can be utilized to identify an item and to exclude the identified item from the generated three-dimensional model.

Techniques are described for transforming image data, such as two dimensional (2D) or partial 3D image data (image data), into a 3D model. Upon receiving image data including color information, the image data may be segmented into a plurality of segments using the color information. At least one height value may be assigned to each of the plurality of segments based on the color information, to define 3D image data. From the 3D image data, a 3D model may be generated, for example, for visualization, modification, and/or 3D printing. In some aspects, segmenting the image data may include comparing intensity values associated with pixels and forming edges in the image data if the intensity values differ by a threshold amount. Multiple edges may be determined and connected to form one or more contour loops, whereby the contour loop(s) may be extruded to produce complete 3D image data.

The claimed subject matter includes techniques for printing three-dimensional (3D) objects. An example method includes obtaining a 3D model and processing the 3D model to generate layers of tool path information. The processing includes automatically optimizing the orientation of the 3D model to reduce an amount of support material used in the printing. Systems, devices, and methods are described herein for transforming three dimensional (3D) video data into a 3D printable model. In one aspect, a method for transforming 3D video data may include receiving 3D video data indicated or selected for 3D printing. The selected portion or 3D video data, which may include a frame of the 3D video data, may be repaired or modified to generate a 3D model that define at least one enclosed volume. At least one of the enclosed volumes of the 3D video data may be re-oriented based on at least one capability of a target 3D printing device. In some aspects, the re-orienting may be performed to optimize at least one of a total print volume or print orientation of the at least one enclosed volume. In some aspects, the method may be performed in response to a single selection or action performed by a user.

Methods, systems, and devices are described herein for estimating a three dimensional (3D) print-time for generating a 3D object relative to one or more 3D model or printer parameters. In one aspect, at least one 3D model or printer parameter may be received for generating a 3D object by a 3D printer. Historical print-time data associated with at least one 3D model or printer parameter for generating other 3D objects may be obtained. Based on the received 3D model and printer parameters and the obtained historical print-time data, an estimated print-time for generating the 3D object by the 3D printer may be determined before slicing the 3D model by the 3D printer. In another aspect, a desired print-time for generating a 3D object may be received. One or more 3D model/print parameters may then be configured to achieve or exceed the desired print-time.

Techniques are described for generating a three dimensional (3D) object from complete or partial 3D data. Image data defining or partially defining a 3D object may be obtained. Using that data, a common plane facing surface of the 3D object may be defined that is substantially parallel to a common plane (e.g., ground plane). One or more edges of the common plane facing surface may be determined, and extended to the common plane. A bottom surface, which is bound by the one or more extended edges and is parallel with the common plane, may be generated based on the common-plane facing surface. In some aspects, defining the common plane facing surface may include segmenting the image data into a plurality of polygons, orienting at least one of the polygons to face the common plane, and discarding occluding polygons.

Technique for extruding a 3D object into a plane

Techniques are described for transforming image data, such as two dimensional (2D) or partial three dimensional (3D) image data, into a 3D model. Upon receiving image data including color information, the image data may be converted into a height map based on the color information. The height map may be used to construct an image data mesh, which forms a 3D model. In some aspects, constructing the image data mesh may include associating vertices with pixels of the image data, connecting neighboring vertices to define at least one surface, applying texture to at least one of the surfaces, generating bottom and side surfaces, and connecting the bottom and side surface(s) to the textured surface to enclose a volume within the 3D model. In some aspects, the height map may include an edge based height map, such that color distances between pixels may be used form edges from the image data.

Embodiments relate to an operating system configured to enable arbitrary applications to output 3D models to be physically formed by arbitrary 3D manufacturing devices. The operating system manages the 3D manufacturing devices, including installation of related software, device drivers, device properties, and so forth. The operating system also provides a path through which the arbitrary applications pass arbitrary print jobs (or documents) of 3D models, in a standard format, to the 3D manufacturing devices. The operating system handles queuing and spooling on behalf of the applications and the 3D manufacturing devices. Drivers of the 3D manufacturing devices may translate the 3D models outputted by the applications (in the standard format) to instructions or device language content that is specific to the respective 3D manufacturing devices.

In one implementation, before a user activates a link in a document, such as a hyperlink on a webpage, the user can designate the link. For example, the user can float a cursor over the link or interact with an icon placed proximate to the link. By designating the link, the user can request reputation information associated with the link, including information as to whether or not content associated with the link, an application used to access the content, and/or source(s) on which the content resides, are known to be dangerous or risky. If the reputation information indicates that the link is safe to activate, the user can activate the link and access the content. Alternately, if the reputation information indicates that the link is unsafe to access, the user can choose to forego activation of the link.
