The present invention relates to a method for adapting a hearing aid with at least one input converter, a signal processing device and an output converter by using a genetic feature of the wearer to whom the hearing aid is to be adapted. Depending on the genetic feature, at least one adaptable parameter is adapted by the signal processing device. The invention further relates to a hearing device system which can be adapted to the hearing device wearer as a function of a genetic feature.

Method for adapting a hearing aid using a genetic feature

A hearing device, in particular of a hearing aid, in addition to a first sound output device for acoustic supply to the ear of the user, has a second sound output device for output of a test sound in a room in which the hearing device is located. The hearing device has an acquisition device for acquisition of a response to the test sound from the room. Room acoustic information that can be used to control the signal processing of the hearing device is acquired from the response. The signal processing in the hearing device can be automatically adapted to the current room acoustic.

If a hearing device user has become accustomed to the tone of a hearing device, it is difficult for him to change over to a new hearing device, since this normally possesses a different tone. Therefore, given a treatment with a second or subsequent device, the settings of the old hearing device can be acquired with a computer-controlled event and be considered in a first adjustment given the adaptation of the new hearing device. The new setting then results from the audiometric measurements, the data of the previous device, and if necessary further data. The tone of the new device is thus approximated to the old device.

Device and method to adjust a hearing device

The interference noise suppression in hearing devices is to be optimized. A hearing device, in particular a hearing aid (HG) is thus proposed, comprising a directional detection device (RM) for detecting a direction from which an audio signal comes in from the sound source (Q), and a signal processing device (VE) for processing the incoming audio signal as a function of the detected direction. An interference classification device (GK) for classifying the audio signal arriving from the sound source (Q) is also processed as a function of the signal class. With the aid of a signal generator (SG) and a receiver (H), a hearing aid wearer can, for example, be informed about the type and direction of the noise, said type and direction of the noise otherwise being so heavily attenuated by the interference noise suppression that the noise is no longer perceivable to said hearing aid wearer.
