Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for providing and using a routing service. A processor can obtain a routing scenario associated with a customer of the routing service. The routing scenario can specify customer data to be accessed to determine a call handling decision when a call is received from a calling party, and the customer data can include information associated with the calling party. The processor can obtain a request to route a call intended for the customer. The processor can generate a query of the customer data to obtain data associated with the calling party. The customer data can be stored at a storage location associated with the customer that is remote from the routing service. The processor can analyze the customer data and the routing scenario, determine a call handling decision, and provide the call handling decision to a network to route the call.

Routing service

A service broker system is presented for mediating events or messages to be sent to or received from a plurality of applications to control service interaction and to provide service blending in a communications system. The service broker system includes steplet functional components that determine a desired mediation for feature interaction or service blending associated with an event or message, along with a message manager component with a dispatcher for the steplet functional components, where the message manager creates and maintains a unique message object for a received request message. A user and end point data manager component is provided to obtain user data and endpoint data and to bind attribute data to a user ID associated with a current service session, and a session context component for binding attribute data to session ID associated with the current service session. In one embodiment, the system includes two or more message manager components individually associated with a different message type.

Enhanced system for controlling service interaction and for providing blending of services

A method and communication network for providing a subscriber with a blend of services of the communication network delivered to the subscriber through a telephone and services delivered to the subscriber through a TV delivery system in communication with the network. Upon receipt of a message from a calling party, a service broker function may be configured to execute service package information associated with services of the TV delivery system subscription to include obtaining and delivering caller ID information of the calling party. The service broker function may be configured to alter the message request to generate a modified message request in respect to information affecting alerting of the subscriber's phone. The modified message is sent to the subscriber's phone so that, while information of the calling party is displayed on the TV delivery system, alerting of the phone is modified.
