A method for joining a first metal part with a second metal part, the metal parts having a solidus temperature above 1100&#xb0; C., includes applying a melting depressant composition on a surface of the first metal part, the melting depressant composition including a melting depressant component that includes at least 25 wt % boron and silicon for decreasing a melting temperature of the first metal part; bringing the second metal part into contact with the melting depressant composition at a contact point on said surface; heating the first and second metal parts to a temperature above 1100&#xb0; C.; and allowing a melted metal layer of the first metal component to solidify, such that a joint is obtained at the contact point. The boron at least partly originates from a boron compound selected from any of the following compounds: boric acid, borax, titanium diboride and boron nitride. The melting depressant composition and related products are also described.

Method for joining metal parts

The disclosure relates to a header connected to or formed as a part of a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger has a heat exchanger body with a plurality of discrete channels for a first fluid and a plurality of discrete channels for a second fluid. The header has a first end having a round configuration and a second end being provided with a plurality of discrete channels. The header is provided with a plurality of dividers dividing one or more internal channels of the circular pipe into the plurality of discrete channels at the second end. At least some of the dividers extend from the second end to the first end and define a plurality of channel mouths at the first end. The disclosure also relates to a heat exchanger.

A method for joining heat transfer plates, comprising: applying a melting depressant composition on individual application areas of a first metal sheet, each application area comprising a mid-section and two end-sections; pressing ridges and grooves in the metal sheet, the ridges extending in a direction that extends between the end-sections of the application areas, such that the application areas are located on top of the ridges; bringing the metal sheet into contact with a second, pressed metal sheet, such that contact points are formed where the mid-sections of the application areas re located; heating the sheets until melted metal is formed at the application areas where the melting depressant composition is applied; and allowing the melted metal to solidify such that a joint is obtained at the contact points.

A heat exchanger includes a central body with a first set of channels and a second set of channels extending along a main direction through the central body, wherein, in the central body, in any cross-section across the main direction, the channels of the first and second sets form a checkered pattern in said cross-sections, wherein the heat exchanger further includes two inner transition portions, wherein, in respective inner transition portion, among the rows extending along a first direction, are every second, counted along a second direction, row provided with channels being along the main direction increasingly shifted in position in a first direction relative to the other channels such that the checkered pattern of channels is transformed into a line pattern.

A method for joining heat transfer plates, comprising: applying a melting depressant composition on individual application areas of a first metal sheet, each application area comprising a mid-section and two end-sections; pressing ridges and grooves in the metal sheet, the ridges extending in a direction that extends between the end-sections of the application areas, such that the application areas are located on top of the ridges; bringing the metal sheet into contact with a second, pressed metal sheet, such that contact points are formed where the mid-sections of the application areas relocated; heating the sheets until melted metal is formed at the application areas where the melting depressant composition is applied; and allowing the melted metal to solidify such that a joint is obtained at the contact points.

The present invention relates to an intermediate product for joining and coating by brazing comprising a base metal and a blend of boron and silicon, said base metal having a solidus temperature above 1040&#xb0; C., and the intermediate product has at least partly a surface layer of the blend on the base metal, wherein the boron in the blend is selected from a boron source, and the silicon in the blend is selected from a silicon source, and wherein the blend comprises boron and silicon in a ratio of boron to silicon within a range from about 3:100 wt/wt to about 100:3 wt/wt. The invention relates to a method for producing a permanently joined plate heat exchanger comprising a plurality of metal heat exchanger plates having a solidus temperature above 1000&#xb0; C., provided beside each other and forming a plate package with first plate interspaces for a first medium and second plate interspaces for a second medium, wherein the first and second plate interspaces are provided in an alternating order in the plate package, wherein each heat exchanger plate comprises a heat transfer area and an edge area comprising bent edges which extend around the heat transfer area, wherein a first surface of the plates forms a convex shape and a second surface of the plates forms a concave shape, wherein the heat transfer area comprises a corrugation of elevations and depressions, wherein said corrugation of the plates and the bent edges are provided by pressing the plates.
