Aspects of the disclosure include a power supply system is provided comprising first and second inputs, an output, a first group of power modules coupled to the inputs and the output, a second group of power modules coupled to the inputs, and at least one controller configured to control, in a reverse mode, the first group of power modules to provide power derived from the second input to the output, wherein a majority of power provided by each power module of the first group of power modules in the reverse mode is provided to the output, and control, in the reverse mode, the second group of power modules to provide power derived from the second input to the first input, wherein a majority of power provided by each power module of the second group of power modules in the reverse mode is provided to the first input.

According to an example, an uninterruptible power supply is provided comprising a first input, a backup input, an output to provide output power, an inverter coupled to the first input, the backup input, and the output, a first sensor to detect a voltage at an inverter output, a second sensor to detect a voltage at the first input, a switch coupled between the first input and the output, and a controller coupled to the switch and the first and second sensors, and configured to determine a first voltage difference across the bypass switch using at least one of the first sensor or the second sensor, filter the first voltage difference, determine whether a value derived from the first filtered voltage difference exceeds a threshold, and output an indication of a failure of the bypass switch based on the value derived from the first filtered voltage difference exceeding the threshold.

Fault condition detection system and method

According to various aspects and embodiments, a power device is provided. The power device includes an input configured to receive input power, and a controller coupled to the input. The controller is configured to sample a voltage waveform of the input power, compare the sampled voltage waveform with a sinusoidal reference waveform to determine a plurality of offset values, and shape an input current waveform of the power device to be substantially similar to the voltage waveform based on the plurality of offset values.

System and methods of grid stabilization

Systems and methods for controlling a UPS system to adapt to power availability requirements and to increase the efficiency of the UPS system are disclosed. The UPS system may include a modular UPS system or a parallel UPS system having a plurality of units. One method of controlling the UPS system includes obtaining actual power consumption by a load coupled to the UPS system, determining a log based power schedule in response to obtaining the actual power consumption and determining power availability for the UPS system in response to determining the log based power schedule. The method may further include adjusting a power capacity of the UPS system based on the power availability, by hibernating or activating at least one unit of the plurality of units of the UPS system.

Adaptive power availability controller

Systems and methods of controlling an uninterruptible power supply are provided. The uninterruptible power supply includes an input configured to receive input power having three phases, an output configured to provide output power, a power conversion circuit coupled with the input and the output, one or more sensors configured to monitor one or more parameters related to the output power, and a controller coupled with the power conversion circuit and the one or more sensors. The controller is configured to receive, from the one or more sensors, values for the one or more parameters, and based on the values for the one or more parameters, select a number of phases of the input power for receiving power for the power conversion circuit.

According to one aspect, embodiments of the invention provide a distributed power system comprising a DC bus, at least one DC UPS configured to provide DC power to the DC bus derived from at least one of input AC power and backup DC power such that a DC voltage on the DC bus is maintained at a nominal level, and at least one power module configured to monitor the DC voltage on the DC bus, to convert DC power from an energy storage device into regulated DC power, and to provide the regulated DC power to the DC bus in response to a determination that the DC voltage on the DC bus is less than a threshold level.

An uninterruptable power supply (UPS) is provided. The UPS includes a first input constructed to receive input power from a first power source, a second input constructed to receive input power from a second power source, an output constructed to provide output alternating current (AC) power derived from at least one of the first power source and the second power source, an inverter coupled to the first input, the second input, and the output and constructed to generate the output AC power, and a controller coupled to the inverter. The controller is configured to identify one or more harmonics in the output AC power, generate an inverter reference signal, and modulate the inverter reference signal to reduce harmonic distortion contributed by the one or more harmonics.

Systems and methods for load harmonic suppression

Systems and methods of controlling an uninterruptible power supply are provided. The uninterruptible power supply includes an input configured to receive input power, one or more sensors configured to monitor one or more parameters related to the input power, an output, a power conversion circuit coupled with the input and the output, a bypass switch configured to couple the input to the output in a bypass mode of operation, and a controller coupled with the power conversion circuit, and the bypass switch. The controller is configured to receive, from the one or more sensors, values for the one or more parameters, filter the values to determine one or more quality metrics, calculate, based on the quality metrics, a quality measure of the input power, and control the bypass switch based on the quality measure.

Power quality detector

Methods and systems for detecting and identifying faults in air-cooled systems are provided. The systems and methods may utilize a prediction model based on an energy balance relationship. In certain methods, one or more measured parameters associated with the air-cooled system may be compared with corresponding parameters generated by the prediction model. One or more faults may be detected and identified based upon deviations between the measured and detected system parameters.
