Methods of determining corrosion of an object that occurs over a time period. The methods determine physical factors of the object and environmental factors that occur during the time period. Node points are determined on the object. At different times during the time period, the methods determine the corrosion of the object at the node points based on the physical factors and the environmental factors. A cumulative corrosion of the object is determined based on the corrosion determined at each of the node points at each of the times.

Method for determining corrosion of an object

A method including receiving environmental data, sensor data, and a multi-state model are received for an object. The object includes a first material and a second material that galvanically or chemically interacts with the first material. Each of distinct galvanic or chemical state of the object represents a corresponding different equation applicable to a corresponding specific galvanic or chemical interaction between the first and second materials. A stochastic optimization operation is performed on the multi-state model until convergence on candidate sets of galvanic or chemical material change rates for the distinct galvanic or chemical states of the object. A correlation model is generated for a surrogate parameter for the second physical parameters by correlating the environmental data to the sensor data using the candidate sets of galvanic or chemical material change rates. An aircraft design is generated using the correlation model.

Method and tool for modeling changes in solid materials caused by galvanic or chemical interactions

Arranging computational sub-tasks in a hybrid-computing environment is provided. The method comprises receiving input of a number of nodes, wherein each node represents a computational sub-task, and wherein the nodes are grouped into different sets according to differing computing resources used by the nodes. A computational objective is also received as well as initial data inputs and desired final outputs. A directed graph network is generated comprising the nodes and directed edges connecting the nodes. An optimization problem is then solved to determine a best path through the directed graph network for deriving the desired final outputs from the initial data inputs according to the computational objective. The best path comprises a subset of nodes and directed edges within the directed graph network. The best path to achieve the computational objective and estimated computational resources required for the best path are output to a user.

Hybrid-computing resource optimization

A method of minimizing a cost function of a quantum computation is provided. The method comprises receiving input of an initial state of a quantum problem instance comprising a Hamiltonian with an associated cost function. The Hamiltonian is converted into a number of Pauli strings, which are used to form an operator pool. The Pauli strings in the operator pool are ranked according to how much they lower a value of the cost function with respect to the initial state. Pauli strings are iteratively added from the operator pool to a parameterized quantum circuit, in a manner to minimize circuit depth, until a variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) algorithm converges to an approximate ground state wave function generated by the parameterized quantum circuit.

Reducing resources in quantum circuits

In one aspect, an apparatus includes a chamber configured to control one or more of humidity, pressure, or temperature and a jaw configured to flex a material system. The chamber includes an enclosure disposed within the chamber, the enclosure having an insulating material, and a motor or an actuator disposed within the enclosure. The chamber includes an inlet tube coupled with the enclosure at a first end and a first wall of the chamber at a second end. In one aspect, a method for determining material performance includes exposing a material system to a relative humidity of from 0% to 98% and flexing the material system at a first temperature in a chamber, the chamber comprising an enclosure disposed within the chamber and a motor disposed within the enclosure. The method includes operating the motor at a second temperature different from the first temperature during the flexing.

Cyclic flexing environmental chamber and methods

In one aspect, a material system comprises a metal substrate and a first coating layer disposed on the metal substrate. A first electrode is directly disposed on the first coating layer, and a second electrode is disposed on the metal substrate. In one aspect, a method for determining material performance includes flexing a material system and detecting impedance of the material system with an electrochemical impedance spectrometer. The material system has a metal substrate, a first coating layer disposed on the metal substrate, a first electrode directly disposed on the first coating layer, and a second electrode disposed on the metal substrate.

Manufacture electrodes for electrochemical monitoring

Aspects described herein generally relate to apparatus and methods for determining operational performance of material systems. Apparatus generally comprise a salt fog chamber having a fixture support having material system flexing components to test corrosion of an aircraft material system. In one aspect, a material performance chamber comprises a salt fog chamber and a jaw configured to flex a material system. Methods for determining corrosion include exposing a material system, such as a panel, to salt fog and flexing the material system at a frequency. In one aspect, a method for determining corrosion includes exposing a material system to a salt fog. The pH of the salt fog is from about 3.0 to about 9.0 and flexing the material system at a frequency from about 0.1 Hz to about 60 Hz.

Cyclic flexing salt-spray chamber and methods

A method and apparatus for analyzing potential corrosion for a vehicle. Potential corrosion surfaces for the vehicle are identified using a model for the vehicle. The corrosion risks are predicted for each of the potential corrosion surfaces. The corrosion risks predicted are aggregated into a group of aggregated corrosion risks for a group of functional design units for the vehicle. A corrosion risk assessment for the vehicle is generated to identify a corrosion risk in the vehicle from the group of aggregated corrosion risks, and to enable a change in the model to reduce the identified corrosion risk.
