An example first playback device includes programming to perform functions including receiving a first request to associate with a first playback queue that is stored remotely from, and persists unassociated with, any playback device of the media playback system. The functions also include associating with the first playback queue and designating the first playback queue as an active queue of the first playback device. The functions also include receiving a second request to enter into a group with a second playback device that is associated with a second playback queue, entering into the group with the second playback device, associating with the second playback queue, and designating the second playback queue as the active queue of the first playback device. The functions also include receiving a third request to leave the group, and after receiving the third request, de-designating the second playback queue as its active queue.

Associating playback devices with playback queues

A system includes: first tags configured to organize activities regarding respective physical objects, each of the first tags including at least a first processor, a first memory, a sensor, an input device, an output device, a wireless communication component, and a first activity component operated using the first processor and the first memory to adapt a behavior of the respective first tag; and a processing device configured to receive first wireless signals from at least some of the first tags, the processing device including a second processor, a second memory, and a second activity component operated using the second processor and the second memory to determine at least presence, proximity, and movement of the first tags based on the first wireless signals.

Organizing physical objects using wireless tags

A method includes: sending, by a first processing device, a first message including an instruction to a first tag to collect first data from at least one device, the first tag coupled to a first physical object for organizing the first physical object; receiving, by the first processing device, a second message from the first tag, the second message including the first data; obtaining, by the first processing device, a first descriptor as being associated with the first data; and presenting, by the first processing device, at least the first descriptor to a user as an indication to a location of the first physical object.

Providing indication to location of physical object using wireless tag

A tag includes: a housing configured for coupling the tag to a physical object to organize activities regarding the physical object; and coupled to the housing: a wireless communication component; circuitry electrically coupled to the wireless communication component, the circuitry having a reset port and a switch port; a power source electrically coupled to the wireless communication component and the circuitry; a first switch between the power source and the reset port; a second switch between the reset port and ground, the second switch controlled by the switch port; and a capacitor between the reset port and the ground.

Tag for wirelessly organizing a physical object

A method includes: receiving, by a first tag and from a second tag, a first message including an identifier of the second tag, the first and second tags configured for coupling to respective first and second physical objects to organize activities; identifying, by the first tag and based on a proximity measure, the second tag for a pairing process to register the second tag as a child tag of the first tag; and providing, by the first tag, a second message with the identifier to a processing device configured to register the second tag as the child tag of the first tag.

Organizing groups of physical objects using wireless tags

In an example implementation, a system groups a first playback device and a second playback device into first player group. The system associates the first player group with a first playback queue that includes items for playback by the first player group. The first and second playback devices are configured to play items from the first playback queue while in the first player group. The system associates a third playback device with a second playback queue that includes items for playback by the second playback device. Thereafter, the system groups the first, second and third playback devices to form a second player group such that each of the first, second, and third playback devices are configured to play items from the second playback queue. The system removes the first playback device from the second player group and automatically associates the first playback device with the first playback queue.

In an example implementation, a first playback device associates with a first playback queue that identifies items for playback by the first playback device. The first playback device receives an instruction to enter a playback group with a second playback device which is associated with a second playback queue that identifies one or more items for playback by the second playback device. The first playback device enters the playback group with the second playback device. The first playback device is configured to play items from the second playback queue in synchrony with the second playback device while in the playback group. The first playback device receives an instruction to leave the playback group and leaves the playback group. Leaving the playback group involves automatically associating the first playback device with a third playback queue that identifies items for playback by the first playback device.

An example method includes receiving a first command by a device to group a first playback device with at least a second playback device for synchronous audio playback. In the example method, the group is associated with a first playback queue comprising a list of one or more items for playback by the group. The example method includes, for as long as the playback device is in the group, receiving a second command by the device to remove the first playback device from the group, wherein the first playback device is ungrouped and automatically associated with a second playback queue. In the example method, the second playback queue comprises a list of one or more items for playback by the playback device.
