Disclosed herein are techniques for managing concurrent reception of satellite position signals and transmission of wireless network signals. In some embodiments, a measurement engine is configured to generate measurements based on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals received by a GNSS wireless receiver, including a first measurement based on a first GNSS signal. A determination is made as to whether a wireless transmitter is active in a first frequency band when the GNSS wireless receiver receives the first GNSS signal, where the first frequency band is a frequency band of the first GNSS signal. In response to a determination that the wireless transmitter is active in the first frequency band when the GNSS wireless receiver receives the first GNSS signal, a position calculation operation and/or a clock bias calculation operation can be performed using measurements other than the first measurement.

Management of concurrent GNSS reception and wireless transmission

A jamming signal detection control method includes: receiving, at a satellite positioning signal receiver, one or more satellite positioning signals; determining, at the satellite positioning signal receiver, one or more quality metric values based on the one or more satellite positioning signals; determining, at the satellite positioning signal receiver, whether the one or more quality metric values are indicative of jamming; and activating, at the satellite positioning signal receiver and in response to the one or more quality metric values being indicative of jamming, a jammer detection technique to determine whether a jamming signal is received by the satellite positioning signal receiver.

Qualified jamming signal detection

A mobile device may be configured to perform concurrent Satellite Positioning System (SPS) operation and wireless communications when uplink signals transmitted by the mobile device interferes with the reception of SPS signals in one or more frequency bands. The mobile device may determine if the SPS receiver has already acquired SPS signals and is in a tracking state. If the SPS receiver is not in a tracking state, an SPS acquisition procedure is initiated before the wireless communication session is initiated. The SPS acquisition procedure is performed until the SPS receiver reaches a tracking state, or until a timeout is reached. Once the SPS receiver is in a tracking state, the wireless communication session may be initiated, during which the SPS receiver is controlled, e.g., to perform signal blanking, measurement exclusion, or disable SPS reception, to mitigate interference with SPS signals.

Concurrent operation of SPS receiver and wireless transmitter

In some implementations, an apparatus may receive a request for the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) position fix information. The request may include an accuracy requirement. The apparatus may determine a set of GNSS bands to use to determine the GNSS position fix information. The set of GNSS bands may comprise one or more bands from a plurality of available GNSS bands, and determining the set of GNSS bands to use may be based at least in part on the accuracy requirement. The apparatus may determine the GNSS position fix information based at least in part on GNSS signals received via the selected set of GNSS bands. The apparatus may provide the GNSS position fix information (e.g., to an application processor). The GNSS position fix information may comprise a GNSS position fix, pseudorange information, or both.

Accuracy-based GNSS band selection

A method of triggering an action includes: determining that a mobile device is under water by: determining that an amplitude of a satellite positioning system (SPS) signal, or a wireless communication signal, or a combination thereof, received by the mobile device is below a threshold amplitude; or comparing data from a motion sensor of the mobile device with motion sensor data characteristic of entering water; or a combination thereof; determining that the mobile device has an action-inducing relationship to water; and taking the action in response to determining that the mobile device has the action-inducing relationship to water.

Swimming activity monitoring

In conditions in which Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signal spoofing is likely occurring, a GNSS receiver may be operated in a reduced operational state with respect to one or more GNSS bands that are likely being spoofed. According to embodiments, a reduced operational state with regard to a GNSS band may comprise performing one or more of the following functions with respect to that GNSS band: disabling data demodulation and decoding, disabling time setting (e.g., time of week (TOW), week number, etc.) disabling acquisition of unknown/not visible satellites, disabling satellite differences, disabling error recovery, reducing non-coherent integration time, and duty cycling the power for one or more receiver blocks associated with the GNSS band.

Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver operation during spoofing

A method for inhibiting jammed signal use includes: receiving a desired signal wirelessly at a receiver; receiving an undesired signal wirelessly at the receiver, the undesired signal varying in strength over time; and inhibiting measurement of the desired signal, or use of a measurement of the desired signal, based on a determination that the undesired signal is a jamming signal based on a variation of the undesired signal being indicative of jamming.

Unstable jamming signal detection

An apparatus control method includes: controlling a first frequency band receive chain, of an apparatus, to alternate being on and off with a first duty cycle, the first frequency band receive chain being configured to measure satellite signals within a first frequency band; determining one or more performance criteria; and controlling, based on the one or more performance criteria, a second frequency band receive chain, of the apparatus, to alternate being on and off with a second duty cycle, the second frequency band receive chain being configured to measure satellite signals within a second frequency band.

Dynamic radio frequency receive chain control

In some aspects, a mobile device is configured to obtain a set of satellite signal measurements through measuring, for each satellite in a first plurality of satellites, a first signal from the satellite in a first frequency band and a second signal from the satellite in a second frequency band. The first plurality of satellites can include at least a first satellite, a second satellite, and a third satellite. The mobile device can determine that at least one measurement in the set of satellite signal measurements is impaired, based on a difference between a measurement of the first signal from a particular satellite (e.g., the first satellite, the second satellite, or the third satellite) and a measurement of the second signal from the particular satellite. A position of the mobile device can then be determined based on non-impaired measurements in the set of satellite signal measurements.

Multipath mitigation for multiband GNSS receiver

A method of monitoring swimming activity includes: determining at least one of an actual relationship of a mobile device to water or an expected relationship of the mobile device to water; determining ranges to satellites, based on signals received by a satellite positioning system (SPS) receiver of the mobile device, in response to the signals being received by the SPS receiver when the at least one of the actual relationship of the mobile device to water or the expected relationship of the mobile device to water is a desired relationship of the mobile device to water; and determining a location of the mobile device based on the ranges to the satellites.

Methods and apparatus for concurrent operation of SPS receiver and wireless transmitter

Described herein are systems and techniques for mitigating the impact of attenuated satellite signals received at mobile devices. A mobile device receives multiple signals from a single satellite on different carrier frequencies. The mobile device calculates two pseudorange measurements, each pseudorange measurement from a different signal of the multiple signals. The mobile device calculates the difference between the two pseudorange measurements, and if the difference exceeds a first threshold and the first pseudorange measurement is larger than the second pseudorange measurement, the mobile device marks the first pseudorange measurement as impaired. If the difference exceeds a second threshold and the second pseudorange measurement is larger than the first pseudorange measurement, the second pseudorange measurement is marked as impaired. The impaired measurements may be weighted or excluded from use in calculating a position of the mobile device or in another pseudorange measurement based calculation.

Water-related action triggering

Disclosed are methods, systems and/or devices to calibrate a network time by acquisition of satellite positioning system (SPS) signals and different instances of time, and time-tagging SPS times according to the network time. In particular, the network time may be calibrated based, at least in part, on a first difference between first and second SPS times obtained at two SPS position fixes and a second difference between corresponding first and second time stamps.
