Systems and methods provide witness sled hardware that may be installed in a chassis and that is configurable using management resources of a chassis in which the witness sled is installed. The chassis may include data storage devices and Information Handling Systems (IHSs), each including one or more CPUs (Central Processing Units) that execute instructions that cause a respective IHS to store data redundantly to the plurality of data storage devices, such as part of a vSAN (Virtual Storage Area Network). The witness sled is configured to provide witness functions, such as arbitrating discrepancies in the redundantly stored data. The chassis includes a management controller that is configured to interface with the witness sled to set up high-speed network connections supported by the witness sled in order to configure the witness sled for providing witness functions within the vSAN, while accounting for the limited resources of the compute sled.

Systems and methods for configuration of witness sleds

Systems and methods provide witness sled hardware installed in a chassis and supported during network failures using management resources of the chassis. A chassis may include data storage devices and Information Handling Systems (IHSs), each configured to store data redundantly to the data storage devices, such as part of a vSAN (Virtual Storage Area Network). The witness sled is configured to provide witness functions, such as to arbitrate discrepancies in the redundantly stored data. The chassis also includes a chassis management controller (CMC) configured to initiate a connection with the witness sled via a management signaling pathway in response to a notification indicating a network fault in a high-speed connection used by the IHSs in communicating with the witness sled. The CMC receives witness transactions from theses IHSs and utilizes the connection initiated via the management signaling pathway to submit the transactions for processing by the witness sled.

An information handling system includes a first memory having a trusted memory region, wherein the trusted memory region is an area of execution that is protected from processes running in the information handling system outside the trusted memory region. A secure cryptographic module may receive a request to create the trusted memory region from a dependent application, and create a mapping of the trusted memory region along with an enhanced page cache address range mapped to a non-uniform memory access (NUMA) node. The module may also detect a NUMA migration event of the dependent application, identify the trusted memory region corresponding to the NUMA migration event, and migrate the trusted memory region from the NUMA node to another NUMA node.

An information handling system includes a service module that may detect an action performed on a passthrough device, invoke an application programming interface on a hypervisor, receive a response to the action on the passthrough device from the hypervisor, and push management information to a management controller. The hypervisor may detect the passthrough device, proxy an operating system call associated with the action to a guest operating system of the virtual machine over the application programming interface, and transmit the response received from the guest operating system to the service module. The guest operating system may echo the operating system call on a virtual machine, and proxy the response to the operating system call to the hypervisor.

A method and an information handling system (IHS) dynamically modifies queue depth values based on changing relative workload demands of virtual functions. A controller, executing code of a queue depth profiler, determines, for each virtual function, an average number of total unfulfilled, outstanding requests. The controller compares values for an average number of total outstanding requests across the plurality of virtual functions. The controller determines a relative demand for request queue depth corresponding to each respective virtual function based on the compared values. The controller calculates desired queue depth values for each virtual function, based on the relative demand. The controller triggers completion of pending requests for a first processing state. In response to successful completion of the first processing state, the controller enables initiation of a second processing state in which request processing continues using the desired queue depth values.
