The present invention discloses an integrated thermocouple waveguide sensor system with one or more of compatible wave propagation mediums joined at one junction with at least one ultrasonic energy transducer on at least one open end of one or more wave guides and a method using the integrated thermocouple waveguide sensor system with arrangement of at least one waveguide thermocouple for integrated measurement of multiple and simultaneous physical properties of the waveguide material itself and that of the surrounding media using the Seebeck phenomena and the ultrasonic guided wave phenomena. The surrounding media properties and waveguide material properties are measured based on the ultrasonic waveguide parameters and the temperature is measured by the thermocouple.

Integrated thermocouple waveguide sensor system and method to measure physical properties of waveguide material and surroundings

This invention provides a method for finding the remnant thickness of a structure. A feature of guided waves known as the cut-off property is used to determine the remnant thickness of structures. Fundamental guided wave modes do not possess cut-off property, but higher order modes do. The cut-off thickness of a particular mode is the minimum thickness required for that mode to travel through the guided medium. The invention uses a wide-bands of frequency and wavelength to generate the modes using appropriate magnets and excitation signal shape to provide a low cost and rapid evaluation of remnant thickness of structure.

Sizing of remnant thickness in pipes and plates using cut-off properties by widening excitation bands of frequency and wavelength

The invention discloses methods for simultaneously measuring various properties of a fluid using a waveguide. The method includes transmitting a plurality of wave modes into the fluid using an ultrasonic shear wave transducer from one end of a waveguide. Further, the wave modes are reflected from the other end of the waveguide. The reflected wave modes are processed simultaneously. The time of flight and the amplitude of the received wave modes are determined. Further, one or more properties of the fluid are measured using determined time of flight and amplitude of the received wave modes. The disclosed method is used to accurately measure the properties of fluid such as level, density, viscosity or flow rate in a short period of time.

Devices and methods of sensing properties of fluids

Methods of forming graphene functionalized carbon nanotube polymer composites are provided. The methods can include functionalizing a plurality of carbon nanotubes using conducting functional molecules to form a composite nanofiller and embedding the composite nanofiller within a polymer material to form the graphene functionalized carbon nanotube polymer composite.
