According to embodiments of the invention, a systemand methodfor identifying COconcentration in a building area using an imaging deviceis disclosed. The disclosed method and system includes capturing the number of living beings present in a particular area of the building by the imaging device, identifying the active state of the living beings and categorizing the active state as per predefined criteria and identifying the COconcentration based on the size of the building area, total number of living beings present in the building area and the active state of the living beings at a given point of time.
