Integrated process configuration involving the steps of pyrolysis, hydrocracking, hydrodealkylation and steam cracking

Disclosed are methods of reduction of chlorine in pyrolysis products derived from a mixed plastics stream. Methods may comprise: (a) causing pyrolysis of a plastic feedstock to produce a first stream of C1-C4 gaseous hydrocarbons and light gas olefins and a second stream comprising the remaining pyrolysis components. The second stream and hydrogen gas may be fed into a hydrocracker to produce a third stream of gaseous C1-C4 hydrocarbon gases and a fourth stream comprising the remaining hydrocracker components. The fourth stream may be fed to either (i) a steam cracker to produce a fifth stream comprising C1-C4 gaseous hydrocarbons and light gas olefins, a sixth stream comprising C6-C8 hydrocarbons and a seventh stream comprising hydrocarbons heavier than C8; or (ii) a fluidized catalytic cracker to produce an eighth stream comprising C1-C4 gases and light gas olefins and a ninth stream comprising hydrocarbons that are C5 or greater.

Plastic pyrolysis

A method of producing olefins and aromatic compounds from a feedstock includes introducing a hydrocarbon feedstock and a catalyst composition that is suitable for converting the feedstock to at least one of olefins and aromatic compounds within a reactor. The reactor has a reactor flow path having a length L between the inlet and outlet. The temperature in the reactor is monitored in at least one location that is at or adjacent to the inlet at a temperature-monitoring distance that is from 0.3 L or less from the inlet. In response to the monitored temperatures one or more parameters are modified. At least a portion of the feedstock is allowed to be converted to at least one of olefins and aromatic compounds within the reactor, which are removed as a product stream.

Conversion of plastics to olefin and aromatic products using temperature control

A method of producing olefins and aromatic compounds from a feedstock is accomplished by introducing a hydrocarbon feedstock and a catalyst composition within a reactor. At least a portion of the reactor is at a reactor temperature of from 470&#xb0; C. to 730&#xb0; C. The catalyst composition is comprised of a fluidized catalytic cracking (FCC) catalyst and a ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst, wherein the amount of ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst makes up from greater than 0 wt. % of the total weight of the FCC catalyst and the ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst. At least a portion of the feedstock is converted to products of at least one of olefins and aromatic compounds within the reactor, with at least some of the products being contained in a liquid product stream. At least a portion of the liquid product stream is directed to different downstream processes to increase production of at least one of olefins and aromatic compounds.

Conversion of plastics to olefin and aromatic products with product recycle

A catalyst composition useful for producing olefins and aromatic compounds from a feedstock is formed from a fluidized catalytic cracking (FCC) catalyst and a ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst, wherein the amount of ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst makes up from 10 wt. % or more by total weight of the FCC catalyst and the ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst. The catalyst composition may be used in a method of producing olefins and aromatic compounds from a feedstock by introducing a hydrocarbon feedstock and the catalyst composition within a reactor, at least a portion of the reactor being at a reactor temperature of 550&#xb0; C. or higher. The feedstock and catalyst composition are introduced into the reactor at a catalyst-to-feed (C/F) ratio of from 6 or greater.
