The virtual namespace identifier is migrated among the pool of storage resources to virtualize a data path for the one or more volumes.

A virtualized copy-by-reference includes: receiving, from a first computer system, a request for reference information for source data within a source volume; providing, to the first computer system, the reference information, wherein the reference information corresponds to a metadata representation of the source data; receiving, from a second computer system, a request to write the source data to a target volume, and wherein the request to write the source data indicates the reference information; and copying, using the reference information, the metadata representation of the source data to the target volume.

A method of optimized end-to-end integrity comprises receiving a request to write application data stored in a first kernel buffer to a storage device. The method further comprises determining, by a processing device, that a first cyclic redundancy check (CRC) of the application data failed. The method further comprises copying the application data to a second kernel buffer. The method further comprises performing, by the processing device, a second CRC on the application data stored in the second kernel buffer.
