An implant delivery sleeve is disclosed. The sleeve may comprise a first tube including a first segment, a second segment, and a third segment. The first segment may have a first stiffness, the second segment may have a second stiffness, and the third segment may have a third stiffness. The third stiffness may be greater than the second stiffness and the second stiffness may be greater than the first stiffness. The implant-delivery sleeve may be used to deliver a breast implant to a subject. The implant may be deformed within the sleeve, to advance it within the sleeve and extrude it from the distal end of the sleeve.

Delivery sleeve

An implant delivery sleeve comprises a tubular wall having a proximal end with a proximal opening, a distal end with a distal opening, and an implant delivery channel extending between the proximal and distal ends of said tubular wall. A plurality of bands interconnect portions of the tubular wall for constricting the implant delivery channel adjacent the distal end of the tubular wall. As an implant is advanced toward the distal end of the tubular wall, the constriction squeezes and/or deforms the implant for facilitating insertion into an incision that is smaller than the normal size of the implant.

Implant delivery sleeves having non-tapered tubular walls with constricted implant delivery channels for inserting implants into tissue pockets

An implantable prosthesis includes a silicone shell having an apex, a base, a radius located between the apex and the base, and a dome extending between the apex and the radius. The silicone shell has an outer surface and an inner surface that surrounds an interior volume of the silicone shell. A silicone gel material is disposed within the interior volume of the silicone shell. A gelling enhancer layer containing a gelling enhancer covers the inner surface of the silicone shell. After the silicone gel material has been thermally cured, the silicone gel material that is located within a zone that is in the vicinity of the gelling enhancer layer has a higher level of cohesiveness than the silicone gel material that is located outside the zone. The gelling enhancer contains crosslinker and/or platinum catalyst, such as a Karstedt catalyst.

An implant-delivery sleeve may comprise an enclosure having at least one opening and at least one vent conduit. The vent conduit may extend along a surface of the enclosure to assist in removing fluids (e.g., blood and air) from the tissue pocket to facilitate implantation of the implant.

A mammary implant and method of making are provided herein. The implant includes an outer shell configured to retain fluid therein, an injection element coupled to the outer shell and adapted to receive therethrough an injection device for injecting fluid into the outer shell, and an injection marker zone made of a material having ultrasonically detectable markers incorporated therein. The markers are a plurality of microcavities that are located relative to the injection element so that, when ultrasonically detected, such detection indicates a location of the injection element.

Injection zone markers for biomedical implants

An expandable mammary implant including a shell having an anterior face and a posterior face. The anterior has an upper pole portion and a lower pole portion meeting at an apex, and an injection zone for receiving fluid therethrough to inflate the implant. A reinforcement material is coupled to the shell in a reinforcement zone. The reinforcement material is coupled to the shell so as to at least coincide with the upper pole portion and a peripheral rim portion that extends from the posterior face upwardly into said anterior face by a predetermined distance.

Novel bioabsorbable, nasal spreader graft implant devices are disclosed. The devices are useful in rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction surgical procedures, as well as other surgical procedures. The devices have biodegradable core plates and biodegradable spreader plates or tissue ingrowth plates. The plates may have tissue ingrowth properties.

Bioabsorbable multilayer nasal valve spreader graft

Novel bioabsorbable, universal kits used to form nasal implants are disclosed. The implants are useful in rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction surgical procedures. The kit devices have a universal configuration and can be converted by the surgeon in the field into one or more individual nasal implant devices having different configurations and applications. The kits may have outlines of nasal implants thereon.

Universal bioabsorbable nasal implant kit

An expandable mammary tissue implant including a shell having an anterior face and a posterior face, the anterior face having an upper pole portion and a lower pole portion meeting at an apex, and an injection zone for receiving fluid therethrough to inflate the implant. The implant further includes a vertical tether member having first and second ends and a central region therebetween having an aperture therethrough. The central region is coupled to the anterior face of the implant at a location such that the injection zone is positioned within the aperture in the central region. The first and second ends of the vertical tether member are coupled to the posterior face of the implant.

A system for making braided barbed sutures includes a filament winding assembly, a barbed insert including an elongated core and barbs extending outwardly from the elongated core, and a barbed insert dispenser opening defining a passageway for orienting the barbed insert as the barbed insert is dispensed into the filament winding assembly. The barbed insert dispenser opening allows longitudinal movement of the barbed insert relative to the barbed insert dispenser opening while simultaneously preventing twisting movement of the barbed insert relative to the barbed insert dispenser opening.

Systems and methods for making braided barbed sutures

A surgical suture includes an elongated core having a first leg and a second leg, a first set of barbs projecting from the first leg of the core, and a second set of barbs projecting from the second leg of the core. The suture has a stop projecting from the core that is located between the first and second sets of barbs, and a braid surrounding the elongated core and the stop for strengthening the suture. The suture includes a pledget having first and second openings extending through the pledget, with the first leg extending through the first pledget opening, the second leg extending through the second pledget opening, and the stop extending between the first and second pledget openings.

Barbed sutures having pledget stoppers and methods therefor

A system for making braided barbed sutures includes a filament winding assembly, and a guide assembly including at least one barbed insert dispenser opening defining a passageway for orienting a barbed insert. The guide assembly is adapted to dispense at least one barbed insert from the dispenser opening into the filament winding assembly for winding a plurality of filaments around the at least one barbed insert for making a braided barbed suture. The passageway of the dispenser opening is adapted to allow longitudinal movement of the barbed insert relative to the passageway while simultaneously preventing twisting movement of the barbed insert relative to the passageway. As the barbed insert is being dispensed, the barbed insert dispenser opening is selectively rotatable for imparting rotation to the barbed insert as the filaments are wound about the barbed insert. The passageway may be an elongated slit having a greater width than height.
