In a reinforcing tape for a slide fastener, which comprises a transparent elastomer film and an adhesive layer superposed on the reverse side thereof, an intermediate layer (an anchor coat layer) having a thickness thinner than the thickness of the elastomer film and that of the adhesive layer is interposed between the elastomer film and the adhesive layer. In a preferred embodiment, a polyamide elastomer film or polyester elastomer film is the elastomer film, a polyester anchor coat agent is the intermediate layer, and a polyester hot-melt adhesive is the adhesive layer. The thickness of the intermediate layer is 0.5 to 10 &mgr;m, preferably 2 to 3 &mgr;m.

Reinforcing tape for slide fastener

A reinforcing tape for a slide fastener comprises a polyamide elastomer film manifesting a modulus of elasticity in bending in the range of 6,000 to 9,000 kg/cm and an adhesive layer. In a preferred embodiment, a polyester hot-melt adhesive is used for the adhesive layer. Preferably an intermediate layer having a thickness thinner than the thickness of the polyamide elastomer film and that of the adhesive layer is interposed between the polyamide elastomer film and the adhesive layer. In this case, a polyester anchor coat agent is used for the intermediate layer.

By fusing reinforcing tapes with bottom end attaching portions of fastener tapes by pressurizing heating means with different pressures (i.e., high and low), thus weakening of attaching portions can be prevented. Core threads are fitted to side edges of fastener tapes to form core portions. Reinforcing tapes formed of thermoplastic elastomer film or thermoplastic resin film are fused to wrap tape end portions including the core portions so as to form the bottom end attaching portions. The reinforcing tapes fused the core portions and vicinity portions to the fastener tapes with a low pressure and at tape main body portions to the fastener tapes with a high pressure, thereby making the core portions and the vicinity portions flexible and thick and making the tape main body portions stiff and thin to form stepped portions. The stepped portions are positioned outside flanges of a slider. A box and a box pin are attached to one of the core portion and core portion vicinity portions, and an insert pin is attached to the other core portion and vicinity portions, thereby preventing the attaching portions from being cracked and weakened.

Bottom end stop attaching portions of fastener tapes and a slide fastener chain including the same

A reinforcing tape for a slide fastener is disclosed. The reinforcing tape to be bonded to the end portion of a fastener tape comprises a reinforcing layer formed of a polyester elastomer film manifesting a modulus of elasticity in bending in the range of 3,000 to 5,000 kg/cm.sup.2 and an adhesive layer. Preferably a polyester-based hot-melt adhesive is used for the adhesive layer.

A reinforcing tape for a slide fastener and a slide fastener having a pair of fastener tapes whose end portions are reinforced with the reinforcing tapes are disclosed. On the end portion of a fastener tape to which a pin-and-box separator of a slide fastener is fitted, a transparent film layer formed of a thermoplastic elastomer or a thermoplastic resin and a fiber reinforcement layer formed of either a reticular sheet of monofilaments or a thin-layer non-woven fabric of fibers manufactured from a thermoplastic resin of the same type as the transparent film layer are superposed through the medium of an adhesive layer, with the transparent film layer constituting itself a surface layer.

A slide fastener chain, which possesses an ability to intercept electromagnetic waves, comprises a fastener tape made of a synthetic fiber or a natural fiber which has been coated with a three-ply electroconductive layer of Ni, Cu and Ni, which was produced sequentially by coating nickel, copper and nickel on the fastener tape by electroless plating and the fastener chain includes electroconductive fastener elements being planted along one lateral edge of the fastener tape.

Slide fastener chain for shielding the electromagnetic wave

A fluid-tight slide fastener stringer has a fluid-tight tape including a longitudinally non-stretchable and transversely stretchable woven or knit fabric wholly covered with a layer of elastic rubber or synthetic resin. The tape has non-stretchable warp inlaid threads and stretchable weft inlaid threads. The laterally stretchable tape serves as a shock absorber for reducing the intensity of external lateral pulling forces exerted on the tape.

Fluid-tight slide fastener stringer

A clamping mechanism mounted on a punch/die holder includes a pair of punch arms angularly movably supported on the punch/die holder and a die fixed to the punch/die holder and disposed between the punch arms for supporting U-shaped top end stops between the die and lower ends of the punch arms. The punch arms are angularly moved to cause the lower ends thereof to clinch the top end stops respectively about the beaded marginal edges of slide fastener stringer tapes at one of element-free spaces adjacent to ends of two rows of coupling elements. The die and the lower ends of the punch arms have slanted surfaces for smoothly guiding the beaded marginal edges into the top end stops between the die and the punch arms. The beaded marginal edges of the stringer tapes at the element-free space are separately directed toward the top end stops supported between the die and the lower ends of the punch arms.

Apparatus for attaching top end stops to a continuous slide fastener

A fluid-tight slide fastener stringer has a fluid-tight tape chiefly made of rubber or synthetic resin on which tape a series of discrete coupling elements are supported along an inner longitudinal margin of the tape. The tape margin is folded so as to provide therealong a pair of spaced contact portions and a folded edge portion disposed between the contact portions. The tape has a foamed layer extending in and through at least the contact portions and the folded edge portion. At least the margin of the resultant tape is excellent in ability of restitution, causing an improved fluid-tightness between the opposed stringers.

An apparatus for supplying U-shaped top end stops reliably one at a time to a holding portion of a top end-stop attaching machine, includes a movable guide rail reciprocably movable between a receiving position for receiving the top end stop from a fixed guide rail cantilevered to a vibrating parts feeder, and a delivery position for supplying the top end stop therefrom to the holding portion, and a delivery unit reciprocably movable toward and away from the holding portion to deliver a leading top end stop from the first guide rail through the second guide rail to the holding portion. The movable guide rail and the delivery unit are linked such that the delivery unit resiliently engages with the movable guide rail within a certain range of its reciprocating stroke for moving the movable guide rail from the receiving position to the delivery position.

Top end-stop attaching machine with improved top end-stop supplying

Elongate products such as slide fasteners discharged from a finishing station are successively received and stored in at least one tray assembly including a plurality of tray members spaced longitudinally thereof. The products are then transported on endless conveyors to a binding station, during which time the products are embraced by at least one binding strip. The binding strip is welded by a welder-cutter at opposite ends of such embraced portion to provide a band encircling the elongate products and simultaneously the band is severed by the welder-cutter at the welded portion, whereby the elongate products are tied together into a bundle. The tray assembly includes tray members are spaced apart from each other to receive the binding strip between adjacent tray members. Product specifications for each group of the elongate products are automatically printed on the binding strip while the products are received and stored in the tray assembly.

Apparatus for binding elongate products

A number of elongate articles such as slide fasteners are placed on a length of a band web supplied on a bundle tray. Free and opposite ends of the length of the band web are gripped by a gripper mechanism with the length surrounding the elongate articles. End portions of the length are then ultrasonically fused together by an ultrasonic horn and an anvil. The opposite end of the length as it is gripped by the gripper mechanism is cut off by a cutter mechanism to form a band bundling the elongate articles. The elongate articles bundled by the band are then discharged by the bundle tray.

Method of bundling elongate articles

A number of elongate articles such as slide fasteners are discharged from a discharging mechanism and placed on a length of a band web which has been supplied from a reel on a bundle tray by means of a feed mechanism. The length of the band web has a free end and an opposite end gripped by a gripper mechanism. End portions of the length of the band web are ultrasonically fused to each other by a fusing mechanism constituted by an ultrasonic horn and an anvil. The opposite end of the length as it is gripped by the gripper mechanism is cut off by a cutter mechanism to form a band bundling the elongate articles, which are then discharged by the bundle tray.

Apparatus for bundling elongate articles

A labeling band adapted to be thermally fastened around one or more products includes a pair of strips joined together along marginal end portions thereof. One of the strips is made of printable, thermally non-shrinkable material while the other strip is made of thermally shrinkable material. When the band is subjected to heat with the products being encircled by the band, the other strip is thermally shrunk to thereby enable the band to firmly hold the products together. Characters printed on the thermally non-shrinkable strip are free from distortion and hence can clearly indicate product information of the products bound by the band.
