A drive circuit of a liquid crystal display device performs line inversion drive based on a correction video signal V. A look-up table () includes two types of tables having stored therein correction values for use in overshoot drive. Based on a current-frame video signal X, a previous-frame video signal Y stored in a frame memory (), and a polarity-reversing signal REV, a correction process portion () reads a correction value from the look-up table (), and outputs the correction value being read as the correction video signal V. In such a manner, a correcting circuit () is used to control the degree of overshoot in accordance with the polarity-reversing signal REV. Thus, it is possible to suitably control the change in pixel brightness regardless of the polarity of the applied voltage, thereby preventing any fringes from being generated while displaying moving images.

Liquid crystal display device and method for emphasizing temporal signal change on a video signal based on at least a polarity for the video signal

A liquid crystal display panel (LCD) including a plurality of pixels. A plurality of drivers are provided and switched between a driving state and a non-driving state in response to an ON/OFF signal that is fed. The plurality of drivers drive the plurality of pixels of the liquid crystal display panel on the basis of a display data signal and a synchronizing signal, including a vertical synchronizing signal VSYNC, so that an image responsive to the display data signal is shown on the liquid crystal display panel. A signal generating section is provided to generate, on the basis of the vertical synchronizing signal VSYNC and the ON/OFF signal that is fed, a new ON/OFF signal synchronized with the vertical synchronizing signal VSYNC, and feeds the new ON/OFF signal into the drivers.

Display device and method of controlling the same

A gradation conversion unitperforms, on an input image, gradation conversion in which a predetermined gain is applied to a gradation smaller than a boundary gradation CVth and a characteristic becomes a spline curve for a gradation larger than the boundary gradation. To determine a characteristic of the gradation conversion unit, an image analysis unitobtains the boundary gradation CVth and a maximum gradation CVmax based on the input image, and determines a linear gain shift coefficient LGs so that the brightness decreasing rate of the maximum gradation CVmax when brightness control of a backlightis performed becomes a limit value or less. In such a manner, power consumption of the backlight is reduced while suppressing deterioration in picture quality.

Display device with gradation conversion, and method thereof

A display ON sequence for preventing problems in a display at the starting time of a liquid crystal display device is prevented from having malfunctions, which might otherwise be caused in a scanning line drive circuit by applying a voltage to scanning signal lines. In the display ON sequence at the starting time of the liquid crystal display device of an active matrix type, all the scanning signal lines of a liquid crystal panel are brought into a selected state thereby to release the electric charges in the liquid crystal capacity and the auxiliary capacity in each pixel forming portion through data signal lines. After this, the scanning signal lines are stepwise brought into an unselected state by dividing them several times, before their sequential selections (or scans) for the display are started. Thus, the electric current to flow through the bulk of the scanning signal line drive circuit is made lower than that of the prior art, in which the scanning signal lines were simultaneously brought into the unselected state.

LCD device and drive circuit for discharging pixels in a stepwise manner during a display on sequence

In one embodiment of the present invention, an active-matrix type display unit, and a drive method thereof are disclosed. Gate-bus lines are provided at both top and bottom sides of each row. Two sub-pixels are formed at a region surrounded by two adjacent source-bus lines and two adjacent gate-bus lines. At the odd-numbered rows, for the left-side sub-pixel of those two sub-pixels, a scanning signal is supplied from the top-side gate-bus line, while a video signal is supplied from the left-side source-bus line. For the right-side sub-pixel, on the contrary, a scanning signal is supplied from the bottom-side gate-bus line, while a video signal is supplied from the right-side source-bus line. At the even-numbered rows, the gate-bus line from which a scanning signal is supplied is reversed to the case of the odd-numbered rows. The gate-bus lines are sequentially selected one by one, and all the video signal polarities are made the same during each horizontal scanning period.

Display device and method of driving the same

A circuit board is connected to a connector including a connection port and contact portions located at upper and lower positions of the connection port. The contact portions face each other in the vertical direction, and each contact portion is connected electrically to the opposite contact portion. The circuit board includes a base substrate, a first wiring layer, and a second wiring layer. First terminals connected to the first wiring layer are provided on one principal surface of the base substrate, and second terminals connected to the second wiring layer are provided on the other principal surface. The first terminals and the second terminals come into contact with the contact portions and are arranged so as not to overlap each other in the vertical direction.

An auxiliary capacitance electrode driving circuit outputs an auxiliary capacitance electrode driving signal alternating between high potential and low potential once every horizontal scanning period. A common electrode driving circuit drives a common electrode such that it also alternates between high potential and low potential once every horizontal scanning period. In an auxiliary capacitance potential setting circuit, the anode of a diode is connected to an auxiliary capacitance electrode driving signal line and the cathode of the diode is connected to a ground conductor. A node between the anode of the diode and the auxiliary capacitance electrode driving signal line is connected via a capacitor to the auxiliary capacitance electrode driving circuit. Thus, the auxiliary capacitance potential setting circuit functions as a clamping circuit for setting an upper limit of the potential of the auxiliary capacitance electrode.

In the pattern matching method, when a reference pattern is extracted from the reference picture, check search is carried out repeatedly a plural number of times while conducting picture compressions on the reference picture with the compression start position being changed to obtain correlation values between the reference picture and the reference pattern. Based on the correlation values obtained by the check search, the number of times of search to be done actually and the picture compression ratio for the actual search are determined.

Method and apparatus for pattern matching

An image reading apparatus is provided with a transparent plate horizontally disposed on which an image reading operation is performed, and a transporting device disposed above the transparent plate for transporting an original sheet to the transparent plate. The transporting device includes a pressure roller for pressing the original sheet onto an upper surface of the transparent plate at a pressure applying position and transporting the original sheet along the upper surface of the transparent plate. The image reading apparatus is also provided with a light source disposed below the transparent plate for illuminating through the transparent plate a portion of the transported original sheet. The illuminated portion of the original sheet is positioned on the upper surface of the transparent plate at an upstream side of the pressure applying position with respect to a transporting direction of the original sheet. The image reading apparatus is further provided with a detecting device for detecting through the transparent plate a reflection light from the illuminated portion of the original sheet.

Original image transporting and reading apparatus

A sheet resist apparatus disposed in a transporting path of a recording sheet transported from a sheet supplying unit to an image forming unit in an image forming apparatus, includes: a pair of first rollers disposed in the transporting path; a pair of second rollers disposed in the transporting path at a downstream of the first rollers; a first driving device for rotating the first rollers to transport the recording sheet toward the second rollers; and a second driving device for rotating the second rollers to transport the recording sheet, which is transported from the first rollers, toward the image forming unit in synchronization with a timing of image-formation of the image forming unit. The sheet resist apparatus further includes: a sensor disposed between the first rollers and the second rollers for detecting a tip of the recording sheet transported from the first rollers; and a control device for controlling the first and second driving devices on a basis of a result of detection of the sensor, such that the first driving device stops driving once before the tip of the recording sheet reaches the second rollers, and such that the first driving device resumes driving earlier than the second driving device starts driving by a predetermined time period.

Sheet resist apparatus

A stack of sheets contained in a containing member is loosened at the downstream edges in the feeding direction by air injected from an air injecting device, and fed one by one seriatim from the sheet on top in a predetermined feeding direction by a vacuum suction feeder disposed above the containing member. At this time, an upwardly directed impact is applied to the downstream edges in the feeding direction of the sheets from an impact generating device, thereby improving looseness of the downstream edge faces in the feeding direction by the air. The sheet fed from the containing member is returned to the bottom of the stack of sheets on the containig member. At this time, a claw formed on a feed roller pushes up the upstream edges in the returning direction of the sheet so as to force the sheet completely into the containing member.

Recirculating sheet feeding apparatus

In a recirculating feeder, for example for a copying machine, a stack of sheets is placed on a placing member. A detection protrusion, which is rotatable about an axis extending along the placing member, contacts the underside of the stack. A spring urges the detection protrusion in an upward direction so that a top sheet of the stack comes in contact with a pressing member. As the top sheet of the stack is fed, sheets are returned to the placing member under the detection protrusion to form another stack of sheets. After the detection protrusion has urged the last sheet of a stack upward and this last sheet is fed, the detection protrusion cooperates with a sensor to indicate the feeding of the stack is completed. Thereafter, the detection protrusion can rotate to come in contact with the underside of another stack of sheets and the operation can be repeated.

Recirculating sheet feeder

A waste toner collecting system in an image forming apparatus which forms on the surface of an image carrier an electrostatic latent image corresponding to an original image, develops the latent image with toner and transferrs the toner image onto a copy material. The waste toner collecting system comprises a cleaning unit for removing residual toner from the image carrier after the toner image has been transferred, a container, independent of the cleaning unit, for storing the removed waste toner, and a transport device for conveying the waste toner removed by the cleaning unit to the container, with an outlet formed in the toner transport device so as to discharge the waste toner, a waste toner inlet formed in the container at a position corresponding to the outlet in the toner transport device, and shutter members provided for the outlet and the inlet, respectively, the shutter members being opened or closed according to as the waste toner container is mounted or dismounted.
