A high-strength, high damage-resistant rail made of 0.6 to 0.85 wt % C, 0.1 to 1.0 wt % Si, 0.5 to 1.5 wt % Mn, 0.035 wt % or less P, 0.040 wt % or less S, and 0.05 wt % or less Al, with the balance being Fe and inevitable impurities, and having corner and head side portions having a Brinell hardness of 341 to 405, and a head top portion in which a Brinell hardness of a site 20-mm distant from the central portion of the head top portion in a width direction is 341 to 405, and a hardness of the central portion of the head top portion is at least 10 lower in Brinell hardness than that of the site 20-mm distant from the central portion.

An engraving sheet structure suitable for use as sheets of, for example, a passport or a bankbook has a substrate made of a plastic sheet made of, for example, a bi-axially orientated high-density polyethylene sheet having an opacity degree not greater than 70%, and an engraving layer formed on the substrate and having an opacity not less than 40% and made of a material which contains a cross-linkable binder. The opacity of the substrate is lower than that of the engraving layer, the difference in the opacity being not less than 30. The engraving layer being adapted to be engraved to form an image from its surface down to the level of said substrate. One or more colored layer may be provided between the substrate and the engraving layer.

A thermal sublimable dye transfer image receiving sheet having a flat base (a white film, an opaque film, a transparent film or a sheet formed by sticking a film and paper) and a dye receiving layer which is formed on the upper surface of the base and receives a sublimable dye, the dye receiving layer containing an organic agent for improving dye transfer density having a compatibility with the sublimable dye and an inorganic adsorbent which adsorbes the above-described dye.

A high-strength, damage-resistant rail characterized by essentially consists of 0.60 to 0.85 wt. % of C, 0.1 to 1.0 wt. % of Si, 0.5 to 1.5 wt. % of Mn, not more than 0.035 wt. % of P, not more than 0.040 wt. % of S, and not more than 0.05 wt. % of Al, a balance being Fe and indispensable impurity. Image-receiving paper for thermal sublimable dye transfer comprises a polymer film or paper and an image-receiving layer which is laminated thereon and which contains as a releasing agent the product of reaction between an oxyalkylene oligomer having reactive groups and a low-molecular weight compound having reactive groups, for example, a silane coupling agent. The image-receiving paper exhibits good release properties during printing, a high print density and no fading and yellowing after printing.

Image-receiving paper for thermal sublimable dye transfer

A method for manufacturing a high strength rail with good toughness, comprises cooling a rail to Ar.sub.3 transformation point or less after hot rolling; heating said cooled rail at a temperature of an austenite temperature zone ranging from Ac.sub.3 transformation point to 950.degree. C.; and cooling the heated rail. The chemical composition of the rail consists of 0.50 to 0.85 wt. % C, 0.50 to 1.50 wt. % Mn, 0.035 wt. % S or less, 0.10 to 1.00 wt. % Si, 0.035 wt. % P or less, 0.050 wt. % Al or less and the balance of Fe and inevitable impurities.

Method for manufacturing a high strength rail with good toughness

A method for heat-treating a steel rail head, which comprises: heating a steel rail head to the austenization temperature; then, cooling the rail head by means of a hot water jet until a surface temperature of the rail head decreases to a temperature not below 420.degree. C.; and then cooling the rail head by means of an air jet at least to the pearlite transformation temperature, thereby transforming the structure of a surface portion of the rail head into a uniform and fine pearlite structure. The above-described method includes a method in which the rail head is previously cooled by means of a water spray until the surface temperature of the rail head decreases to a temperature not below 530.degree. C. prior to the cooling of the rail head by means of the above-mentioned hot water jet.

Method for heat-treating steel rail head

A method of producing a plastic sheet with a porous surface layer suitable for use as, for example, a recording medium on which characters and images are printed by ink jet or thermal-transfer printing method. The method comprises preparing a solution by dissolving two or more kinds of plastics having low levels of miscibility to each other in a solvent, applying said solution to a substrate, passing said substrate with said solution applied thereto through a liquid which dissolves said solvent but does not dissolve said plastics thereby solidifying said plastics, and drying said substrate with the solidified plastic layer. Preferably, two or more kinds of plastics having low levels of miscibility to each other include mainly a material A which is vinyl chloride or its compolymer and a material B which is acrylonitrile or its copolymer.

Method of producing plastic sheet with porous surface

A wear resistance rail which comprises 0.50 to 0.85 wt. % of C, 0.10 to 1.0 wt. % of Si, 0.50 to 1.50 wt. % of Mn, less than 0.035 wt. % of P, less than 0.035 wt. % of S, less than 0.050 wt. % of Al, and the balance of iron and impurities. The web has a high toughness tempered bainite structure, tempered martensite structure or a tempered mixed structure of bainite and martensite and the head rail has high wear resistance which prevents unstable destructive cracks from propagating. The rail can further contain one or more of 0.05 to 1.50 wt. % of Cr, 0.05 to 0.20 wt. % of Mo, 0.03 to 0.10 wt. % of V, 0.10 to 1.00 wt. % of Ni, and 0.005 to 0.050 wt. % of Nb.
