A banknote handling apparatusincludes: a taking-in unitwhich takes banknotes in one by one; a transport unitwhich transports each banknote from the taking-in unit; a recognition sensorwhich obtains information related to the fitness of the banknote transported by the transport unit; and a memory unitwhich stores a threshold value for an unfit note factor for determining the fitness of a banknote. A control unitof apparatusdetermines the fitness of the banknote by comparing the threshold value and a detected value of the unfit note factor based on the information obtained by the recognition sensor, and counts the number of times the unfit note factor has been used to determine the banknote as an unfit note. An output unitoutputs the unfit note factor and the number of times of reason.

Banknote handling apparatus

A banknote handling apparatusis configured to perform a sorting process of banknotes. The banknote handling apparatus includes: a taking-in unitconfigured to take in a banknote one by one; a transport unitconfigured to transport the banknote having been taken in from the taking-in unit; a recognition unitconfigured to recognize the banknote transported by the transport unit; a control unitconfigured to control the transport unit, such that the banknote having been recognized by the recognition unitis transported to any one of a plurality of stacking unitsto, based on a sorting pattern; and a sorting-category receiving unitconfigured to receive at least one sorting category. The control unitis configured to create the sorting pattern by deciding types of banknotes to be stacked in the respective stacking unitsto, based on the number of the stacking unitstoand the sorting category.

A money handling apparatus includes an inlet to receive money of a plurality of different currencies, a plurality of outlets, and a control unit to control a transport unit, such that the money is sorted and delivered from the transport unit to respective outlets based on a money recognition result of a recognition unit. As such, the control unit determines whether the currencies that have been recognized by the recognition unit are assigned to any of the outlets. Thus, when the recognized currency is assigned to an outlet, the transport unit is controlled to transport the money of the associated currency to the assigned outlet. In addition, when the recognized currency is not assigned to an outlet, and if there is an outlet to which no currency is assigned, the control unit assigns the currency to such outlet and the associated money is transported to the assigned outlet.

The sorted-banknote stacking device () includes a feeding unit () that feeds the banknote from the hopper unit (); a transporting unit () that transports the banknote; a denomination recognizing unit (); a plurality of stackers () in which the banknote is sorted and stacked based on a recognition result; and a rejecting unit () that discharges rejected banknotes. The bundling device includes a bundling-object-banknote stacking unit () that stacks banknote of a specific denomination transported by the transporting unit (); and a banknote bundling unit () that bundles the banknotes. The bottom surface of the sorted-banknote stacking unit () is arranged at a higher level than the bottom surface of the bundling device ().

In a money handling apparatus, an inletreceives money of a plurality of different currencies. A control unitcontrols a transport unitsuch that the money is sorted and delivered from the transport unitto the outletsandbased on a money recognition result by a recognition unit. A sort pattern creating method, for a banknote handling apparatus, comprises a step of selecting a denomination of banknote (S), a step of selecting a print version of banknote (S), a step of selecting a direction of banknote (S), a step of selecting a fitness of banknote (S), a step of creating the sort pattern by combining the contents selected in the step of selecting a denomination of banknote, a print version of banknote, a direction of banknote and a fitness of banknote (S). The sort pattern creating method comprises a step of checking a validity of the combination of the contents, wherein the combination is valid when a type of banknote is defined to be sorted into one stacking unit, and the combination is not valid when the type of banknote is not defined to be sorted into one stacking unit.

A banknote deposit transaction apparatus () confirms number of deposited banknotes on a per transaction basis. The apparatus includes a bundling-object-banknote stacking unit () that sorts and stacks bundling-object-banknotes among transported banknotes; a bundling-object-banknote counting unit (A) that counts number of bundling-object-banknotes stacked in the bundling-object-banknote stacking unit () as number of unconfirmed deposited banknotes; a banknote bundling unit () that, when the number of stacked bundling-object-banknotes reaches a predetermined number, bundles the bundling-object-banknotes; a tentative confirming unit () that performs a tentative confirmation of the number of unconfirmed deposited banknotes in a current transaction among bundled banknotes at a timing of bundling; and a confirming unit that, upon detecting an operation for ending a transaction, confirms the number of tentatively confirmed and unconfirmed banknotes as a total number of banknotes deposited in the current transaction, and performs recording and management of number of banknotes stacked in the bundling-object-banknote stacking unit () as number of loose banknotes of a previous transaction. This reduces the opportunities of unbundling the bundled banknotes in an operation for fault recovery thereby greatly reducing a work burden of an operator.

A received banknote processing apparatus having no temporary reserving section has a failure recovery processing unit. The failure recovery processing unit securely recovers the number of banknotes of an accepted transaction together with the determination of the fitness of the banknotes of the accepted transaction in failure recovery processing that is performed when a failure, such as a jam, occurs.

In an apparatus and a method capable of sorting and counting bank notes and barcoded tickets by a single apparatus, the apparatus includes an insertion receptacle disposed to an upper portion of the apparatus for placing the bank notes and the barcoded tickets thereon, three stacker units disposed to lower portions of the apparatus, a conveying path interposed between the insertion receptacle and the stacker units, and first and second identification units disposed midway in the conveying path for identifying the bank notes and the barcoded tickets, respectively. The bank notes and the barcoded tickets placed on the insertion receptacle in a mixed state are drawn out to the conveying path one by one, identified by both the identification units, sorted according to results of identification of both the identification units, and stacked in the respective stacker units. The results of both the identification units are stored in a host computer.
