An image forming apparatus in which an original reading portion is disposed in an upper portion of the apparatus main body, a feed portion is disposed in a lower portion of the apparatus main body, and a printing portion is disposed between the original reading portion and the feed portion as an image forming system, is configured as follows. A paper post-processing portion that can perform a plurality of types of paper post-processing for recording paper transported from the apparatus main body after printing by the printing portion is finished, and a discharge portion to which recording paper is discharged after paper post-processing by the paper post-processing portion is finished, are disposed in a space of the apparatus main body formed by the original reading portion, the printing portion, and the feed portion.

In one embodiment, a charge removal member, which removes static electricity built up on paper waste, is disposed in a collecting containerused for collecting the punch wastegenerated by punching transported paper. The charge removal memberis disposed in an open top portion of the collecting container, in a location corresponding to a hole-punching punchdisposed in the punching unit, with a proximal end portionof the charge removal membersupported by the collecting containerand the distal end portion of the charge removal memberforming charge removal comb-shaped needlesextending towards the central portion of the collecting container.

Punching apparatus

In a front face of the paper post-processing portion, a cover is provided that covers this front face. The discharge portion is provided such that it can be raised or lowered according to the quantity of stacked recording paper.

Image forming apparatus

A paper feeder includes a storage section, a feed path, a delivery section, and a receiving section. The storage section is configured to store therein plural sheet members to be fed to a processing apparatus which is operative to perform processing on the sheet members. The feed path allows each of the plural sheet members fed from the storage section to pass therethrough in a feed direction toward the processing apparatus. The delivery section is located most downstream on the feed path in the feed direction. The feed path is open to exterior in the delivery section. The receiving section is located upstream of the feed path in the feed direction for communication with a delivery section of a separate paper feeder having an identical construction with the present paper feeder when the separate paper feeder is disposed upstream of the present paper feeder in the feed direction.

Paper feeder

There provided is a post-processing apparatus which has a simple structure and makes more than one sheet of recording paper easily slide down a slope of a post-processing tray, has no irregularity in the alignment of the sheets of recording paper in the discharging direction, and makes the alignment of sheets of recording paper easier after that. A finisher unit is provided with conveyance rollers for discharging sheets to a processing tray, aligning plates for guiding both sides of the sheets discharged by the conveyance rollers, and a control CPU for controlling an operation of the aligning plates. When the sheets guided by the pair of aligning plates slide down a slope of the processing tray, the control CPU causes the pair of aligning plates to vibrate in the cross direction of the sheet and in the same direction.

Post-processing apparatus and image forming apparatus

A line sensor that detects the edge position of a recording paper is provided on the upstream side of a transfer point where an image formed on a first photosensitive drum is transferred to the recording paper. When performing borderless image formation, the size of the image on the first photosensitive drum to be transferred to the midstream of the recording paper after detection of its edge position is changed to a smaller size based on the detection results by the line sensor, and subsequent image formation to the recording paper continues to be performed according to this image on the photosensitive drum whose size has been changed.

Image forming apparatus capable of suppressing developer waste

A sheet feeding device is adapted to be placed beside a sheet processing apparatus by being lifted on a side close to the sheet processing apparatus for engagement with the sheet processing apparatus. The sheet feeding device includes a housing, casters, and an elastic member. The housing stores therein sheets to be supplied to the sheet processing apparatus. Provided for supporting the housing, the casters are mounted on a bottom portion of the housing and include a first caster and a second caster. The first caster is located close to the sheet processing apparatus so as to be movable upward and downward. The second caster is located far from the sheet processing apparatus. The elastic member applies a downward force to the first caster.

In an image forming apparatus in which an original reading portion is disposed in an upper portion of the apparatus main body, a feed portion is disposed in a lower portion of the apparatus main body, and a printing portion is disposed between the original reading portion and the feed portion as an image forming system, a paper post-processing portion that can perform a plurality of types of paper post-processing for recording paper transported from the apparatus main body after printing by the printing portion is finished, and a discharge portion to which recording paper is discharged after paper post-processing by the paper post-processing portion is finished, are disposed in a space of the apparatus main body formed by the original reading portion, the printing portion, and the feed portion, and the paper post-processing portion is controlled according to print conditions selected when a print request is made.

The invention allows an amount by which restricting members should be moved to be grasped accurately and easily, prohibits movement of the restricting members in time of fastening the restricting members, and allows positions of the restricting members to be adjusted accurately and just by a necessary amount. A set screw is meshed with a boss of a retaining member through an eccentric cam mounted in a cam guide formed in an upper surface of a main body, the eccentric cam being supported to have an axis of rotation aligned to an axis of rotation of a pinion. A rotation of the eccentric cam varies positions of contact between peripheral surface of the eccentric cam and side surfaces of the cam guide to vary a distance from the positions of contact to the center of rotation of the eccentric cam.

Sheet mounting apparatus

In a container, an ink exhausting detecting liquid permeable sponge and an ink permeable sponge are disposed with an isolation film therebetween. The ink exhaustion detecting liquid is oil based, and has a resistance value higher than that of ink, and a specific gravity smaller than that of ink. In usage, the isolation film is drawn out of the container, whereby the ink exhaustion detecting liquid permeable sponge is brought into contact with the ink permeable sponge.

A printer of a ribbon cassette fixed type, to which a ribbon cassette is detachably mounted, has a main body and a cassette mounting portion provided on the main body. The mounting portion has a cassette loading plate for loading the cassette thereon. The cassette includes two spools in parallel winding an ink ribbon therebetween. The printer includes a feed reel disposed at the loading plate and adapted to engage with one of the spools for feeding the ribbon, and a take-up reel disposed at the loading plate and adapted to engage with the other of the spools for taking-up the ribbon. A carriage is mounted in the main body movably along a printing direction. A print head is disposed on the carriage, to which a portion of the ribbon is set, for printing by using the ribbon discharged from the cassette by a movement of the carriage in the printing direction. The printer further includes a moving device provided to the mounting portion for moving the loading plate to a loading position, in which the cassette is positioned in a vicinity of the carriage so as to set the portion of the ribbon to the head along with a loading motion of the cassette, and an operating position, in which the cassette is positioned away from the carriage so as not to disturb the movement of the carriage.

A printer has a ribbon cassette with an ink ribbon wound between a feed reel and a take-up reel mounted in a stationary state independently of a carriage, so that the ink ribbon may be let off from the ribbon cassette and is recovered into the ribbon cassette by means of a print head mounted on the carriage along with the movement of the carriage in the printing direction, in which the carriage is provided with a control roller that is disposed on the transfer route of the ink ribbon and is controlled so as to transfer the ink ribbon in the length corresponding to the printing portion at every printing by the print head in the printing action in the direction of the take-up reel and to fix the ink ribbon when the carriage returns or when transferring without printing. Between the reels, a reel control mechanism is disposed for applying a rotating force of small torque of such an extent as to slip with respect to the ribbon let-off force by the print head to the both reels in the printing action in the take-up rotating direction, and applies a rotating force of large torque to the both reels when the carriage returns in the take-up rotating direction.
