The present invention provides a photothermographic material having, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer including at least a photosensitive silver halide, a first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder, and a non-photosensitive layer including a second non-photosensitive organic silver salt which is different from the first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, wherein particles of the second non-photosensitive organic silver salt have a mean equivalent circular diameter of from 0.03 &#x3bc;m to 0.5 &#x3bc;m. A photothermographic material, which exhibits improved color tone of developed silver images, improved resistance to damage from fingerprints, and high resistance to image defects, is provided.

A photothermographic material having, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer including at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder, wherein 1) the binder includes a polymer latex having a monomer component represented by formula (M):CH&#x2550;CR&#x2014;CR&#x2550;CH&#x2003;&#x2003;Formula (M)2) the photothermographic material includes a compound represented by formula (SA): and 3) the photothermographic material further includes a metal phthalocyanine dye represented by formula (PC-1): wherein at least one of R, R, R, R, R, R, R, and Ris an electron-attracting group. The invention provides a photothermographic material which produces an image free from unevenness in color tone, having high image quality, and is excellent in image storability.

The present invention provides a black and white photothermographic material having, on at least one side of a support, at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, and a reducing agent for silver ions, wherein the reducing agent for silver ions is a compound represented by the following formula (PP) and having a molecular weight of from 450 to 3000, and the black and white photothermographic material further comprises a compound represented by the following formula (II).

The present invention provides a photothermographic material having, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer including at least a photosensitive silver halide, a first non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder, and a non-photosensitive layer including a second non-photosensitive organic silver salt that is different from the first non-photosensitive organic silver salt on the same side of the support as the image forming layer and farther from the support than the image forming layer, wherein the photothermographic material further has a non-photosensitive intermediate layer between the image forming layer and the non-photosensitive layer, and 50% by weight or more of a binder in the non-photosensitive intermediate layer is a polymer latex. A photothermographic material, which exhibits improved image storability and improved resistance to image defects, is provided.

A photothermographic material including, on at least one side of a support, an image forming layer including at least a photosensitive silver halide, a first organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and a binder, and at least one non-photosensitive layer which is disposed on the same side as the image forming layer and farther from the support than the image forming layer, wherein 50% or more of a total projected area of the photosensitive silver halide is occupied by tabular grains having a silver iodide content of 40 mol % or higher and an aspect ratio of 2 or more, and the non-photosensitive layer comprises a second organic silver salt, and an image forming method using the same. The invention provides a photothermographic material and an image forming method excellent in image tone and image storability.

The present invention is directed to a heat-developable photosensitive material and an image-forming process using the heat-developable photosensitive material. The material generally includes at least one photosensitive silver halide, a reducing agent for silver ions, a binder, and non-photosensitive organic silver salt particles on one surface of a support. The non-photosensitive organic silver salt particles are specified and the reducing agent is specified. The material may include specific non-photosensitive organic silver salt particles and a development accelerator.

A photothermographic material comprising, on one surface of a support, at least one kind of photosensitive silver halide, a silver salt of an organic acid, a reducing agent for silver ions, and a binder, wherein (1) said material further comprises two or more kinds of organic polyhalogenated compounds, and (2) a melting point of a mixture which consists of the organic polyhalogenated compounds in the same content ratio as the content ratio of said compounds in the photothermographic material is in the range of from &minus;10&deg; C. to 50&deg; C. relative to a heat development temperature for the photothermographic material. The photothermographic material of the present invention shows high sensitivity and superior storability before heat development, and the material can be used for medical images, photoengraving and the like.

A photothermographic material comprising a defined amount of a compound represented by the following general formula as a reducing agent is disclosed. In the following general formula, R and R each independently represent an alkyl group, at least one of which is a secondary or tertiary alkyl group; R and R each independently represent hydrogen atom or a group that can be a substituent on benzene ring; L represents &mdash;S&mdash; group or a &mdash;CH(R )&mdash; group where R represents hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; and X and X&prime; each independently represent hydrogen atom or a group that can be a substituent on benzene ring. The photothermographic material is characterized by providing sufficient image density by heat development, and showing good silver color tone and little change with time after the development.
