A film capacitor includes: a main body portion including dielectric films and metal films which are laminated; external electrodes; and an insulating layer disposed on a surface of the main body portion. The main body portion includes a pair of first faces, a pair of first side faces and a pair of second side faces, the first side faces and the second side faces connecting the first faces. The external electrodes are disposed on the first side faces, respectively. The metal films each include a plurality of first segments into which the metal films are divided by a plurality of first grooves extending in a first direction. The insulating layer is disposed between the main body portion and parts of the external electrodes within first regions which are regions of the first side faces that are distant from the second side faces, respectively, by a distance of P or less.

Film capacitor, combination type capacitor, and inverter and electric vehicle employing the same

There are provided a dielectric film, a film capacitor and an electric device capable of achieving an increase in relative permittivity without causing a decrease in breakdown field strength. A dielectric film includes an organic resin and ceramic particles contained in the organic resin. The ceramic particles each have a crystal lattice defined by three axes composed of axis a, axis b, and axis c, and including two or more crystalline phases of different axial ratios c/a. Owing to each crystal phase having different extents of dielectric polarization originating from the differences in shapes (sizes) of the crystal lattices, the ceramic particles each have regions with different permittivities, achieving an increase in relative permittivity without causing a decrease in breakdown field strength.

The invention relates to a ceramic dielectric material and to capacitors including the ceramic dielectric material. The ceramic dielectric material of the invention exhibits a high relative dielectric constant and a stable temperature characteristic of the relative dielectric constant.

Dielectric ceramic and capacitor

Provided is a multilayer ceramic capacitor having a capacitor body formed by alternately laminating a dielectric layer and an internal electrode layer, and an external electrode formed on both ends of the capacitor body. The dielectric layer has at least two type of barium titanate crystal grains that differ from one another in at least one selected from Ca composition concentration, Sr composition concentration, and Zr composition concentration, and a grain boundary phase. If this multilayer ceramic capacitor employs, as a dielectric layer, a dielectric ceramic that contains barium titanate crystal grains in which part of Ba is substituted by Ca, Sr, or Zr, it is capable of suppressing the grain growth of crystal grains, and improving relative dielectric constant, temperature characteristic, and high-temperature load test characteristic, for example, in high-volume manufacturing using a tunnel type large kiln.

Multilayer ceramic capacitor and method for manufacturing the same

Crystal grains mainly composed of barium titanate have a mean grain size of not more than 0.2 &#x3bc;m. The volume per unit cell V that is represented by a product of lattice constant (a, b, c) figured out from the X-ray diffraction pattern of the crystal grains is not more than 0.0643 nm. Thereby, a dielectric ceramics having high relative dielectric constant can be obtained. A multilayer ceramic capacitor comprises a capacitor body and an external electrode that is formed at both ends of the capacitor body. The capacitor body comprises dielectric layers composed of the dielectric ceramics, and internal electrode layers. The dielectric layers and the internal electrode layers are alternately laminated.

A piezoelectric resonator having a resonator element in or on a substrate, said resonator element comprising a laminate of a plurality of piezoelectric ceramic layers and a plurality of electrode layers which are alternately laminated one upon the other, the piezoelectric ceramic layers neighboring up and down being set to oscillate in opposite phases relative to each other. In the piezoelectric resonator, the piezoelectric ceramic layers neighboring up and down undergo the thickness longitudinal oscillation in opposite phases, suppressing the oscillation of the fundamental mode and strongly exciting the oscillation of a mode of a high degree of not lower than the second degree. The piezoelectric resonator utilizing the mode of a high degree of not lower than the second degree is little affected by spurious caused by the oscillation of the fundamental mode.
