A spinning reel is provided with a rotor having opposed arms projecting over a skirted portion of a normally non-rotated spool. A line guide bail has arm cams at its ends to pivotally support the bail to the rotor. One of the bail arm cams also forms a lever portion. The bail is pivoted through a wide angle, in response to rotation of the rotor, from a line casting position to an intermediate position and finally to a line winding position. In moving from the casting to the intermediate position, the bail arm lever strikes a kick plate carried by a stationary reel support leg. This conditions the bail so that an interior, stationary kick bose is engaged by a kick plate connected by a link to the bail arm cam to swing the plate and connected bail to line winding position.

Fishing spinning reel

A fishing spinning reel in which one of a bail arm lever and a pivot cam which is biased by a spring is held at its line-casting position by a first stopper arranged in the arm while it is held at its line-rewinding position by a second stopper also arranged in the arm. The second stopper is disengaged when a bail arm is rotated over a predetermined angle in the counter-clockwise direction against the biasing force of a spring so that the bail arm is automatically turned to its line-casting position.

Fishing spinning reels

A fishing spinning reel in which a kick lever is slidably mounted on one of a pair of arms formed on a periphery of a rotor at diametrically opposing positions and being slideable in response to rotation of a rotor. The sliding movement of the kick lever is transferred to a spring-biased bail arm to rotate it through a swingable link lever and a connecting lever. The swingable link lever and the connecting lever are used to amplify the stroke of the movement of the kick lever, thereby turning the bail arm over a large angle.

A bail arm reversing device comprises a rotor provided with a pair of diametrically opposing arms, a bail arm with both ends rotatably supported by the pair of arms in eccentric relation with respect to an axis of the rotor, a torsion spring for selectively biasing the bail arm toward a string take up position and a string pay out position, a first timing gear having one end pivotally connected to a spoke of the rotor, a second timing gear mounted on one of the pair of arms and a hand operated lever provided with a second kick gear. The bail arm and the hand operated lever are interconnected by a link mechanism having a dead center. A ratchet wheel is provided to cooperate with a pawl mounted on the first timing gear whereby the bail arm can snap to a string pay out position or a string take up position when the link mechanism passes the dead point.

Bail arm reversing device fishing spinning reels

A bail latching and releasing mechanism for use in a spinning reel of the spool type is disclosed, wherein a kick lever is rotatably disposed about its axis in a support housing. The support housing rotatably supports a bail arm lever connected to one end of a bail arm. The bail arm lever is formed with a recess and a stopper and is spring biased by a return spring. The return spring has a dead point to selectively urge the bail arm lever toward its fishing line winding and releasing positions upon the lever being rotated to exceed the dead point. The kick lever has one end being bent into a rear space so as to abut against a projection formed therein, and has the other end being bent into the recess of the bail arm lever. The axial rotation of the kick lever selectively determines the fishing line winding or releasing position by the selective engagement between the kick lever and the recess.

Bail latching and releasing mechanism for spinning reel of outside spool

A return force controlling mechanism for a bail arm of a spinning reel is disclosed, wherein one end of the bail arm return spring is fitted in a bail arm lever rotatably secured to one of bail arm supports and the other end of a bail arm is contacted to an arcuate surface of a cam member rotatably provided in the support. The other end of the spring is displaced by stepping rotation of the cam member, whose arcuate surface is formed to have an increasing radius whereby the biasing force applied by the bail arm spring is quickly and easily changed.

In a fishing spinning reel, a cylinder is connected to the outer end of a handle lever adapted to rotate the main body of the reel, and one end of a handle stay is slidably inserted into the cylinder. This end is provided with an annular groove, a pair of 180.degree. apart axial notches connected to the groove and a key pin with a portion received in the groove. A spring is contained in the cylinder to urge outwardly the handle stay so as to cause either one of the notches to engage the key pin. To the outer end of the handle stay is rotatably connected a handle knob so that the knob can be folded inwardly or erected outwardly by forcing the handle stay into the cylinder and then rotating 180.degree..

An internal bail arm latching and releasing mechanism for a spinning reel includes a spring biased bail arm 10 secured at one end to a pivot cam 8 rotatably mounted on a post 31 extending out from a support housing 7 integral with the reel rotor 1. The pivot cam carries two bosses in their spaced relationship adapted to engage a detent 25 of a spring biased slidably mounted L-shaped kick lever 18 having an upright portion 19. The latter is positioned to strike a key plate 27 when the rotor is turned with the bail arm cocked. This forces the kick lever outwardly to release the bail arm as it swings over to the rewind position. The boss 16 abuts the detent to hold the kick lever to thereby provide rotational clearance between the upright portion and the key plate.

A spinning reel of the type having a bail arm and wherein an L-shaped kick lever rotating synchronously with the reel rotor engages a trip tab to thereby release the bail arm, further includes a braking surface immediately preceding the trip tab in the path of the projection. While the bail arm is cocked, slight rotation of the rotor due to eccentric weight distributions will be arrested when the braking surface frictionally engages the projection, thereby preventing premature and inadvertent release of the bail arm. The frictional engagement is relatively light, and may easily be overridden by turning the reel handle to thereby release the bail arm when desired.

An internal bail arm latching and release mechanism for a spinning reel includes a spring biased bail arm 12 secured at one end to a pivot cam 14 rotatably mounted on a post 11 extending out from a support housing 8 integral with the reel rotor 8. The pivot cam carries a C-shaped cam face 31 of increasing radius, adapted to engage a detent 21 on a spring biased, slidably mounted, L-shaped kick lever 19 having a trapezoidal projection 28 on its upper end. The latter is positioned to strike a trip tab 26 on a stationary key plate 25, which also serves as a bearing retainer, when the rotor is turned with the bail arm cocked. This forces the kick lever inwardly to release the bail arm, and as it swings over to the rewind position the cam face 31 moves the kick lever further inward to thereby provide rotational clearance between the projection 28 and the tab 26.

One end 10a of a bail arm return coil spring 10 mounted around a post 5 is extended into the bail mounting projection 4 on the side of the reel rotor 3. The extended end of the spring is given an L-shaped configuration and the down-turned end 11 of the spring is selectively engageable in any one of a plurality of accomodating holes 12, 12', 12'provided in the rotor housing wall 4a, whereby the biasing force applied by the bail arm spring may be quickly and easily changed.

Spin fishing reel with adjustable bail arm return spring

A spinning reel having jointly controlled but separate anti-reversal and clicking mechanisms of simple and improved construction. The clicking mechanism thereby provides an audible clicking sound to indicate that the anti-reversal mechanism is engaged when retrieving or rewinding the fishing line.
